Dec. 10
7:45 a.m. – A 1994 dark blue Honda was stolen from the 600 block of Vaughan Lane during the night. The vehicle has damage on the hood and front fender, headlight damage and and a rear bumper sticker that says “I’m going commando.” The car does not run well. Value $200. Because of value, caller did not wish to sign as stolen.
11:52 a.m. – A vehicle was entered in the 700 block of Airway Road. The stereo and 18 music CDs were taken. There was no damage to the vehicle except a couple of cut wires. $265.
12:36 p.m. – A 1990 light blue four-door Toyota Camry was stolen from the 0-99 block of West Oak Street between 9 a.m. and noon. The vehicle had a faded hood, black wheels with no hubcaps and no window visors. The vehicle had two new front tires. It was in good running condition. A pair of sandals, a poncho and black and yellow rain pants were inside the vehicle. A report was taken.
2:32 p.m. – A caller found a sack of syringes in a parking lot near a grassy area in the 1800 block of Carroll Street. They were picked up and disposed of.
Dec. 9
8:45 a.m. – A caller said there was a vehicle on South 12th and Tangent Streets with emergency flashers on. The male in the vehicle appeared to be passed out. An officer contacted the man, who said his car had broken down and he was waiting for a tow. He was not passed out but had been lying back in the seat with his hood on, trying to stay warm.
3:29 p.m. – A caller said a man was attempting to jump the fence behind BiMart to get into the junkyard. Officers contacted two men at the location. They own the property and were looking at the fence so they could repair it. They have been having items stolen from their lot. The fence is broken in one place. No crime. No report.
5:37 p.m. – Caller said at approximately 5 p.m., a package was delivered to a residence in the 100 block of E. Elmore Street. She heard a knock on her door and when she got to the door the package was gone. She checked with the neighbors and they don’t have the package. A report for mail theft was taken.
Dec. 8
8:14 a.m. – An officer was out with a student who did not know school was cancelled. The student was in the 400 block of South Fifth Street and was having a hard time on the ice. An officer gave the student a courtesy ride.
9:58 a.m. – A car fire was reported in the 1700 block of South Main Street. Lebanon Fire District was on the scene. The car was fully engulfed and blocking on southbound lane on Main Street. An electrical short in the vehicle caused the fire. No report.
Dec. 7
9:22 a.m. – Two vehicles were entered overnight in the 3000 block of South Main Road. A red CD case with more than 400 DVDs was taken from a trailer. A Garmin GPS was taken from the car. Possible other stolen items were to be determined. A report was taken.
12:45 p.m. – A man pushing a small shopping cart stole a decoration from Ralston Park. Officers contacted the man, who they issued a 30-day exclusion from the park. The decoration was returned to the park.
4:44 p.m. – A caller said 30 seconds after UPS delivered a package to a residence in the 200 block of E. Ash Street, she went to the door and saw a dirty white minivan, with the motor running, parked in front of her house. When the caller opened the door, the van sped away at a high rate of speed. She described the van as a mid-2000 white Ford Windstar.
Dec. 6
3:55 a.m. – Lebanon Police Department officers assisted the LFD and Linn County Sheriff’s Office with a house fire in the 500 block of West Ash Street. Multiple explosions came from the residence. There was an active gas leak from the fire. Residents were asked to shelter in place. At 5:5:36 a.m., the gas line was shut off. No report.
4:19 p.m. – A caller reported garbage being thrown over the fence into his yard and someone loosened the lug nuts on his son’s vehicle in the 500 block of E. Rose Street. The caller said high school students drive by his residence before and after school, speeding. He would like some assistance stopping this. His dog was possibly poisoned and got sick. He would like a radar trailer on this block. Documented. No report.
6:09 p.m. – A trail cam was stolen from a backyard in the 500 block of West Ash Street. A report was taken.
Dec. 4
12:22 a.m. – LFD requested assistance from LPD for a a man who had complained of chest pains and was being combative with hospital staff.
9:39 a.m. – A caller said her vehicle tires were flattened overnight in the 0-99 block of Hobbs Street. The tires appeared to be evenly low on all tires. There were no signs of punctures or tampering. They were re-inflated so caller could get to church. The caller said her neighbor saw someone tampering with her Christmas lights as well, but everything appeared fine. No report at this time.
11:15 p.m. – Three car seats were stolen from a vehicle in the 200 block of Market Street. One was a Cosco brand large carseat with a black polka dot pattern, one was a Grayco black and grey infant seat, and one was a small black Cosco booster seat. The vehicle was undamaged. A report was taken for unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle and third-degree theft.
Dec. 3
12:23 a.m. – A caller said a man stole his phone and headed northbound on a bicycle from the 1400 block of South Main Street. The man was in his mid-20s and had red facial hair. The caller just got the phone yesterday and did not know what brand it was. The phone had not been activated and does not have service. It was a black Android phone with no case and a very large screen. Loss value: $200.
8:55 a.m. – Caller said her windshield was broken during the night in the 1600 block of South Ninth Street. Loss value: $200.
11:01 a.m. – A locked vehicle was entered during the night in the 300 block of West Joy Street. The ignition was damaged and the glove box and center console were gone through but no items were missing. A report was taken for unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle and second-degree criminal mischief.
12:26 p.m. – Caller heard an explosion last night in the apartment next door in the 1600 block of South Ninth Street. An officer responded and the man said he was cleaning his gun the previous night and shot himself in the leg. He showed the officer photographs of the injury. He said he went to the hospital and already had been contacted by LPD regarding the incident.
4:16 p.m. – A caller said juveniles were vandalizing lights at the corner of Grove and Maple. A volunteer in a “Blue Angel” shirt with face painted like a polar bear followed them. The juveniles said they were being pushed on a swing too high when one of the girls’ feet got caught on a light cord, which pulled it and caused candy canes to pulled from the ground. Two were damaged. They ran because the were scared. An officer counseled them on better actions in the future. All were respectful and attempted to replace the candy canes. No report.
Dec. 1
12:27 a.m. – A man was sleeping under a covered area at the Elks Lodge. He was warned for trespassing and he agreed to pick up the garbage in the area and move along. No report.
8:56 a.m. – The principal at Hamilton Creek requested the school resource officer speak to a student regarding taking inappropriate video at school. The student was counseled.
9:55 a.m. – Two juvenile males entered a vacant house in the 500 block of D Street. The caller could see through the front window of the house that they were in the living room. They appeared to be fighting. An officer contacted and counseled them. The officer called their parents and Coldwell Bankers. Coldwell Bankers called the owners of the house, who did not wish to press charged but advised to give the two boys strict counsel and advise them not to return.
10:43 a.m. – A woman reported her purse was taken off her walker outside of her apartment in the 1800 block of South Second Street. Her purse was left unattended for three to five minutes in the front lobby while she returned a book to the library. The purse is brown with a strap and had a brown wallet inside. Missing items include the woman’s Oregon Driver License, $260 cash, Citizen’s Bank check book and debit card, a key ring with several keys, and a Regence medical insurance card. Loss value $350.
1:06 p.m. – A caller reported that a group of high school students in a white Jeep Cherokee yelled “Kill the gays” at her while she was in the Safeway parking lot during lunch. The caller filled out a bullying/harassment form through Lebanon High School and requested the students be counseled on their actions. All three students named on the form were contacted and counseled on their actions and advised to cease them immediately.
2:16 p.m. – A caller found a cream-colored chihuahua near South 10th and West Isabella streets. The caller brought him to the Justice Center to be scanned for a chip. No chip was found. She said she could hold on to the dog until Dog Control responds.
3:26 p.m. – A caller said a trucker pulled in to the Walmart parking lot and yelled at several people that they needed to move because they were in the spot where he parks every week. The man told officers he politely asked the caller to move and they responded with attitude and that’s what made him upset. The trucker said he and the caller cussed at each other a little bit. An officer counseled the truck driver that there is no guaranteed parking for trucks at Walmart and if other drivers respond that way, to find another place to park or to come into the parking lot a different way to avoid asking someone to move. No report.
9:43 p.m. – A 22-year-old man shot himself in the leg with a .40 caliber handgun while trying to clean it. He went to the emergency room at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital. No other injuries. No report.
Nov. 30
8:23 a.m. – A caller said two boys between the ages of 9 and 12 years old walking eastbound on Walker Road were kicking garbage cans and scaring animals and appeared to be skipping school. An officer was unable to locate the boys or any garbage cans that had been knocked over. LPD was contacted by Seven Oak Middle School regarding the incident. The two students had missed their bus and walked their sister to Cascades School then walked to Seven Oak. On the way, they scared several cats, which prompted a citizen from a house and another driving a vehicle in the area to stop and confront them over their actions. The contact from the citizens scared the boys. School administrators counseled the boys on their actions and advised them to catch the bus to avoid further issues.
11:30 a.m. – A vehicle was cited for prohibited parking at Lebanon High School. The vehicle habitually parks in the spots reserved for kitchen staff in the visitor parking area.
12:37 p.m. – A caller reported theft of a package from the front porch of a residence in the 900 block of Glenwood Street. Two Dell Inspiron laptop computers were taken. A report was taken.
Nov. 29
6:38 a.m. – Two vehicles were entered and ransacked in the 2800 block of South Main Road. Nothing was taken from one of the vehicles, but the owner knew it had been entered because the seat was moved and the steering wheel needed to be wiggled back and forth for the key to turn. A wrench and some miscellaneous tools were taken from the other vehicle. Reports for third-degree theft and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle were taken.
10:15 a.m. – A Honda Prelude was stolen overnight from the 300 block of Sand Ridge Court. The vehicle was locked. Vehicle was entered into LEDS/NCIC.
10:55 a.m. – LPD assisted LFD in responding to a reported structure fire at Taco Bell. LFD said all customers and employees were evacuated after what was described as smoke filling the structure through the HVAC ductwork. Firefighters used thermal imaging cameras to examine the HVAC unit from both inside the structure and on the roof and did not find any active fire. An engine, a truck, a Battalion Chief, two medic units and a Division Chief responded and cleared the scene at 11:21 a.m.
11:41 a.m. – LPD assisted LFD with a reported fire in one of the independent living cottages at Brookdale Assisted Living Community. Firefighters were on scene at 11:42 am and found smoke coming from the open front door of a cottage. A quick investigation revealed that a frozen burrito had been severely overcooked in a microwave and ignited, destroying the microwave but only causing light smoke damage to the rest of the structure.
12:40 p.m. – A pink purse, which contained identification, a blood-testing monitor and three different medications, was stolen form a vehicle that was parked at the River Center and was possibly unlocked. A report for third-degree theft was taken.
1:49 p.m. – Two transients, one male and one female, were set up with all of their property on the side of a building in the 1700 block of South Main Street. The caller said they had been coming and going all day. An officer was unable to locate the individuals but had a trespass notice to be served if located.
2:14 p.m. – A woman said items were taken from a vehicle parked in the 1100 block of Eddie Street. A Nike limited edition USA Olympic jacket, iPad, prescription aviator sunglasses, braided chord phone charger and bluetooth earbud were taken. Total loss value: $1,300. Report for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and third-degree theft.
9:22 p.m. – A caller caught a man trying to take the stereo out of a silver Dodge Neon in the 3100 block of South Santiam Hwy. Nothing appeared to be damaged or taken, although Pyle stereo deck was removed along with console.
Nov. 28
1:32 a.m. – A star shower motion laser light projector was taken from a residence in the 100 block of E. Rose St. The caller just wanted the incident documented. No report.
8:45 a.m. – Items, including a wallet, Oregon Trail card, and Oregon Driver License were taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 500 block of N. Fifth Street.
11:30 a.m. – An officer spoke with staff at Bridgecreek Memory Care who said juveniles like to smoke in the area. They also have had problems with tagging. They requested extra patrol as time allows. No report.
1:12 p.m. – Several vehicles were broken into in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 2000 block of Cyprus Court. A Stanley Fat Max tool set was stolen from one of the vehicles. Nothing was taken from the other vehicles. Officers took a report for second-degree theft.
1:41 p.m. – A man said he found two uncirculated dimes in the 600 block of Park Street. They were from 1969 and 1971 and the caller thought because they were very clean they may be uncirculated and possibly stolen from a collection. Records showed no reports of stolen dimes and a Google search showed the dimes were not part of any collection but were ordinary dimes worth 10 cents each. The man did not want the dimes returned to him. They were disposed of. No report.
1:57 p.m. – A woman reported that three vehicles belonging to her family were broken into over the weekend in the 2400 block of South Sixth Street. Miscellaneous items were taken. The family did not wish to file a report and left the state. The woman wanted information documented. No report.
1:57 p.m. – A wallet was found at Beauty Bros. An officer picked it up to return it but was unable to contact the owner.
4:27 p.m. – A caller said a man tried to open the doors of his vehicle. He confronted the suspect and the suspect said a neighbor told him to get something out of the truck. Officers made contact with the suspect at 4:32 p.m. There was no damage to the vehicle. He told officers a story that did not check out and did not make any sense. He was advised to stay away from vehicles that do not belong to him. No report.
5:47 p.m. – Caller reported a man dumpster diving in the 700 block of N. Fifth Street, who yelled at the caller. The caller wanted him trespassed. The caller called LPD back and said the man left on his own accord and they can disregard. LPD advised him to call back if the man returned.
Nov. 26
10:34 a.m. – A caller found possible stolen items, several jackets and tools, in front yard in the 400 block of C Street. It was determined items were taken from a vehicle in the area. The owners went to the location and identified the items. A report was taken.
12:01 p.m. – A caller said he saw a thin dark-skinned male wearing a baseball cap driving the caller’s stolen vehicle near Dewey and Primrose. He followed the suspect until the suspect noticed he was being followed and took off. The vehicle appeared to have switched plates. Officers, Linn County Sheriff’s Office were notified. Albany Police Department requested to check the registered owner of the switched plates. The vehicle was recovered and released to the owner.
3:22 p.m. – A woman said she last had her wallet at The Knothole. The black wallet with a buckle clasp contained her Oregon Driver License, debit cards, credit cards and $80 in cash. The caller requested information be noted in case it is turned in. She said she would notify her bank, creditors and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Nov. 25
10:35 p.m. – A caller said his vehicle was entered overnight in the 400 block of B Street. His seat covers and backpack with school books was taken. There was no damage to the vehicle. An officer informed the man that his backpack was placed in evidence in connection with the 10:56 a.m. call on Nov. 24. he was advised to contact the property manager to recover it. A report was taken.
11:10 a.m. – A vehicle was entered two nights ago in the 2200 block of McKinney Lane. The caller was unsure if the car was locked. There was no damage. A mail key and 50 music CDs were taken. The caller only wanted the incident documented and did not require a case number. No report.
Nov. 24
6:31 a.m. – Someone hit caller’s vehicle with three eggs, causing damage, in the 3100 block of South 10th Street. A report was taken.
10:56 a.m. – Sometime between midnight and the time of the call, two vehicles were entered in the 400 block of E Street. A “SOG” backpack near the vehicle contained some of the stolen items, sockets, wrenches, glasses, keys, a flashlight, a light blue oximeter and medication. A report was taken.
11:03 a.m. – An unlocked vehicle in the 2200 block of McKinney Lane was entered overnight. The caller’s wallet was taken. He canceled his bank and debit cards. He was advised to report his stolen Oregon Driver License to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Nov. 23
12:39 a.m. – A caller saw a man passed out in his truck near E. Oak and Hiatt Streets when she walked to the store and he was still there 30 minutes later. Officers contacted the man who said he was napping until he had to go to work in a few hours. He was fine and was advised he could nap there. No report.
6:42 a.m. – A caller said four people on bicycles were leaving a business at 90 E. Grant Street as he pulled into the parking lot this morning. There have been ongoing issues with people who are homeless staying there and causing issues. The caller was given options and officers advised they would provide extra patrol during the night.
7:21 a.m. – A caller found a white mountain bike and wet clothing under his carport in the 0-99 block of Wheeler Street. A report was taken.
8:36 p.m. – The door to the city Public Works building was damaged and a 30-40 gallon red Husky air compressor, a Dewalt 12.5” planer, and Rigid 13” planer were missing. The burglary occurred between 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 22 and the time of the call.
9:39 a.m. – A caller found a needle under the edge of a fence on Second Street north of the canal. An officer retrieved two syringes at the location and placed them in a sharps container.
12:06 p.m. – The rear driver-side window was broken out of a Chevy pickup in the 0-99 block of H Street. The incident occurred between 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 22 and the time of the call. The vehicle was not entered.
4:37 p.m. – An officer extinguished an unattended fire pit at River Park. He advised park guests that the park was closed for the day. No report.
9:05 p.m. – Two people were walking southbound pushing a shopping cart and going through garbage cans near Franklin and Milton Streets. An officer contacted them and they were looking for cans. There were no signs they created a mess or any other problems. No report.
Nov. 22
12:47 a.m. – A caller reported a man who had been trespassed from the property hiding in the bush in front of the “old Lebanon Express office.” The caller said the man was wearing dark pants and a black and red jacket. An officer responded and contacted several people in the area who did not see the male or anyone matching the description the caller gave. The man had previously been verbally trespassed by the manager of the Albany Democrat-Herald. Officers checked and observed the area but were unable to locate the man.
11:38 a.m. – An officer reminded four young men at Wynn Mill Park that they were not allowed to smoke in the park and they were not old enough to have or smoke tobacco. They were polite and agreed with the officer. They left the park. No report.
2:05 p.m. – A caller said someone entered her car and stole approximately 30 CDs between 5:30 a.m. and noon. She requested the information be documented. No report.
2:13 p.m. – A caller said her wallet was stolen. It is red and contained $26 in cash, ID, debit and credit card, near South Second and West Ash Streets.
2:23 p.m. – A caller said as she was leaving, she found that someone opened and stole a silver MacBook Air from a package from Amazon that was delivered some time between 5:30 a.m. and noon, in the 200 of South Seventh Street. Loss value: $500. A report was taken.
2:28 p.m. – The principal at Seven Oak Middle School received a report of marijuana in the water tank of a toilet. He located the bag of marijuana with some coffee beans inside. Several students alleged that one student was bringing the marijuana to school. It was determined the student had the marijuana and was showing it around to other students in the restroom. The student was referred for MIP-marijuana.
3:19 p.m. – A caller said someone used her credit card on Nov. 11 without her permission. She works at Boulder Falls Event Center and has given her card and pin number to coworkers in the past but does not remember which ones. She was informed which Oregon State Statutes were possible violated but she did not wish to press charges at this time. No report.
5:29 p.m. – A caller requested a welfare check on her mother who turned 101 today. She has not been able to get a hold of her and was concerned. An officer made contact with her, sang her “Happy Birthday,” and told her to call her daughter.
Nov. 21
9:16 a.m. – A wheel and tire were stolen from a vehicle sometime overnight near 10th Street and Charlie Avenue. Estimated loss value: $50. A report was taken.
9:20 a.m. – Items were taken from three different vehicles overnight in the 2400 block of South Seventh Street. A report was taken.
11:43 a.m. – A caller reported an abandoned vehicle in the 0-99 block of South Grove Street. It had been parked on the street for two weeks and the caller had not seen anyone around it. The vehicle belongs to a medical student who had finals this week. The student said they would move the vehicle the next day.
3:04 p.m. – A man reported someone stole his identity and opened a Comcast account in Highland, Calif. He received a letter from a collection agency stating that he was delinquent $879.96. He said the billing occurred from October 2015 to February 2016. LPD did not take a report since the crime occurred in California, but gave him a case number for documentation.
7:08 p.m. – A laptop in a soft pink satchel was taken from an unlocked vehicle sometime Friday or Saturday in the 2300 block of Kokanee Way.
10:31 p.m. – A caller said a man on Main Street yelled at her when she passed him. He was yelling about killing people and hitting them with a hammer. He was holding something in his hand, but the caller could not see what it was. He was making statements about shooting while he was in Seattle. An officer made contact at 10:42 p.m. At 10:55, an officer dropped the man off at Park and Carolina Streets. No report.
Nov. 20
9:14 a.m. – A caller said his neighbor hit him with a bat in the 300 block of Russell Street. Linn County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at 9:29 a.m. The bat the caller was referring to was a tee ball bat. There were no injuries other than red marks. The deputy took a report and the incident is under investigation.
11:15 a.m. – A caller said someone tried to take gas from the tank of her vehicle overnight in the 2400 block of Second Street. The hose was still in the tank and the gas cap was still there. No report was taken.
2:20 p.m. – A caller reported thefts from two vehicles in the 400 block of Mayer Drive. He was not sure if anything was taken out of the ATV. His son’s truck had a Lebanon Warriors gym bag with the number 32 on it. An officer said LPD would give extra patrol as time allows.
Nov. 19
2:11 a.m. – A man reported his Nintendo stolen from the 1800 block of South Main Street. A report for third-degree theft was taken. At 3:46 p.m., the Nintendo was recovered from Game Time and placed in evidence.
8:53 a.m. – A 38-year-old man was being aggressive with law enforcement at Ralston Park. He was served a trespass. No additional report.
6:13 p.m. – A man said he received a fraudulent call from someone in Jamaica who told him that he won $2.5 million and a Mercedes, but he needed to send $200 to receive it. The man wired the $200 and the caller had the man speak with someone posing as a Homeland Security agent who told the man he needed to send $300 more for a golden eagle stamp. The man realized the fraud and did not send the additional $300. LPD advised the man to notify the FBI and Homeland Security. No report was taken.
Nov. 18
9:47 a.m. – A caller said he recovered his stolen vehicle and is confronting the suspect at the Park Manor Apartments. It was verbal at the time of the call but was escalating. The vehicle was released to the owner. A 37-year-old man was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
10:58 a.m. – Juveniles found a wallet outside of the Justice Center. Officers contacted the owner and he picked it up.
11:35 a.m. – A woman reported fraudulent activity on her Key Bank Account. Charges occurred in Florida. A report was taken.
2:10 p.m. – A wallet found at Wilco was turned in to LPD. Records staff was able to contact the owner, who picked it up the next day.
2:43 p.m. – A caller requested an officer pick up a capped hypodermic needle he found in his yard in the 100 block of West Vine Street.
2:56 p.m. – A man reported a possible mail scam. He received invoices from “National Internet Listing” which he believed to be fraudulent. He did not transfer any money. He looked up the company on Google and and noticed multiple reports on scams. Documentation only, no report.
3:03 p.m. – A 3-year-old wanted to have her photo taken with a police officer. Her mom said the girl wants to be a police officer when she grows up and can’t stop talking about it. Officer Japheth Adams responded. The girl’s mom used her cell phone to take a photo of her daughter with Adams.
4:13 p.m. – A caller said her purse was stolen from Walmart within the last 10 minutes. At 4:40 p.m., someone turned in the purse with all of its contents.
Nov. 17
10:04 a.m. – Two vehicles entered the parking lot at building 12 at about 7:40 p.m. on Nov. 16. Entek has video. Six people broke a picnic table worth $80 and stole five or six wood pallets worth $100. Vehicles and people left at 9 p.m. One vehicle was a truck and one a compact, light-colored four-door sedan with mismatched right side wheels. The caller requested extra patrol.
2:20 p.m. – A caller said an officer harassed a parent about parking inappropriately while picking up children at Green Acres School. The caller said police officers should work with the school rather than lecture parents in the line. No report was taken.
7:02 p.m. – A 35-year-old man was reported to have concealed sporting goods merchandise in his pants at Walmart and left the store toward the Wilco. Officers detained him behind BiMart. He was charged with third-degree theft and probation violations. Officers took him back to Walmart to return the property.
