Lebanon Trails meeting
Building Lebanon Trails is holding a community get-together from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, at the Lebanon Public Library, 55 Academy St.
Find new trails to walk, meet fellow trail lovers, find out what BLT is doing to improve the trail system in Lebanon and find out about the monthly events. There will be refreshments and games.

Walk against child abuse
Lebanon Police Department and Dala’s Blue Angels will host Walk-A-Mile-For-A-Child/5K on Saturday, April 15 to raise awareness to prevent child abuse and neglect.
The 5K starts at 8:45 a.m. and the mile walk will begin at 9 a.m. at the Lebanon Justice Center.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. and is $25 for the 5K and $20 for the walk. Lebanon schools and all children 5 and under walk for free. All proceeds will go to the ABC House in Albany.
The walk will be led by McKenzie Anderson of Albany, Lebanon Strawberry Festival Court princesses and Gus, the Lebanon Police department dog. Also involved will be the Lebanon Fire Department, KGAL/KSHO and more.
The walk/5K will end back at the Justice Center, where a ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Chief Frank Stevenson, Mayor Paul Aziz, Honorable James Egan and other dignitaries will speak on behalf of child abuse prevention. There will be a dedication ceremony in honor of Karly Sheehan.
Lacemakers invite participants
Oregon Trail Lacemakers will meet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15, Willamette Oaks Retirement Living, 455 Alexander Loop, Eugene.
Oregon Trail Lacemakers is open to lacemakers and those wanting to learn to make bobbin lace, tatting and needlelace.

Arts Commission to talk projects
The Lebanon Arts Commission will hold a regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 17, in the Community Room of the Lebanon Public Library.
The meeting will cover details about both the Quirky Turkey Pageant and the Strawberry Plaza Art Boards project.
Linn-Benton Community College will hold a workshop “Beginning Facebook for Small Business” from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 17, in the Luckiamute Center room 115, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.
Participants learn how to use Facebook to reach and engage customers, including how to create a Facebook business page, how to optimize the page and maximize SEO impact, how to use Facebook in online marketing strategies, how to create engaging posts and more.

Learn sustainable landscaping
Oregon State University Extension Service in Lane County will hold Sustainable Landscape Training from 9 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 18-19 at Lane County Office, 9956 Jefferson St., Eugene.
The training includes a combination of classwork and yard evaluations that can lead to a Sustainable Landscape Certification. Participants will learn a variety of landscape practices that can help improve water efficiency, enrich soil quality through mulching and composting, create wildlife habitat, reduce the use of pesticides and fertilizers, and protect nearby waterways. Efficiencies in the use of resources should also lead to lower power, water, and waste bills.
The cost of the program is $25. OSU Extension Service in Lane County has received a grant from EWEB to promote this program. Pre-registration is requested one week prior to training. Storytime and egg hunt in Brownsville
The Brownsville Library along with Parents and Pals will host an egg hunt and storytime at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers accompanied by an adult.
Participants will first listen to a story in the Brownsville Community Library, then decorate a special bag, hunt for plastic eggs in the Library park and turn them in for a treat.

Free forest management plan training
Oregon State University, along with Women Owning Woodlands and Oregon Forest Resources Institute, will host a workshop on forest management planning from 1 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, at the Cafferata Family Forest off of Deerhorne Road.
A written forest management pan is required for Oregon Tree Farm System participation and forms the foundation for sustainable forest management.
The workshop will explore how to get started, things to consider and how to keep a record of activities.

Free sacred choral concert May 7
The Oregon Sacred Festival Chorale will present a free benefit concert at 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, at the Lebanon First Assembly in Lebanon, and 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, at the Willamette Community Church in Albany.
The concert will benefit the Mennonite Disaster Service, Willamette International and Adult & Teen Challenge.
The program will include hymns, gospel, classical and spiritual.
‘My Fair Lady’ auditions May 8-11
Lebanon Association for Theatre Arts will hold auditions for its production of “My Fair Lady” at 6:30 p.m. from May 8-11.
May 11 will be call backs by invitation. Auditioners must be age 14 and above as no parts for younger ages are available. There are 42 characters, ranging from leads to supporting actors/actresses to townspeople. The ensemble has several numbers.
The evenings will be divided between solos, choreography and cold reads.

Participants sought for Career Fair
Lebanon Community School District is seeking individuals or businesses to participate in its second annual Career Fair on Thursday, May 11, at the Lebanon High School.
Over 1,000 students, from eighth grade through high school, are expected to attend. Students will make their rounds to the various booths and ask questions and gather info. This is an opportunity for students to speak with someone whose career choice interests them and to explore areas they may not have considered before.
People with all kinds of jobs are encouraged to be present.
Lunch will be provided to presenters during the lunch break. Tables will be provided for each business to set up their career information.

Seminar on disaster preparedness
The American Red Cross Prepare Out Loud presentation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, at the Boulder Falls Event Center, 605 Mullins Dr.
The presentation will equip participants to be ready for disasters of all kinds (including a Cascadia earthquake) by taking practical steps to start preparing, being vocal about preparedness and encouraging others to start preparing.

LBCC students to host car show
Linn-Benton Community College will host a multi-class car show from 8 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 21 at the Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 Pacific Blvd. S.W., Albany.
Hosted by LBCC Industrial Technical Society, the car show will feature food vendors, industrial shop tours and a trophy award ceremony.
Cost is $20 per vehicle for advanced registration, or $25 per vehicle at the door. No limit. Gates open at 8 a.m., registration ends at 10 a.m. and the show closes at 2 p.m.
The show is free and open the public.
