Driver killed in Hwy. 20 crash

Beau Helaman Flynn, 39, of Eugene, died in a single-vehicle crash Thursday evening, Nov. 16, on Highway 20 near the corner of Weirich Drive.

Oregon State Police Troopers responded to the scene at approximately 6:43 p.m.  The car was sheared in half.

A preliminary investigation revealed a silver 2001 Acura car, operated by the 39-year-old man, was traveling east on Highway 20 when the Acura veered off the road and struck a tree.

Division Chief Ron Sipe of the Lebanon Fire Department said Albany Eastern Railroad shut down the tracks for several hours during OSP’s investigation.

LFD had eight people at the scene, along with an engine and medic unit, for three hours.

LFD and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted OSP. Speed is being considered as a contributing factor of the crash.

Flynn suffered fatal injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
