First-timers Brooks, Oliver elected to School Board

Two new members were elected to the Lebanon Community School District Board of Directors in the May 16 election, according to election results reported by the Linn County Clerk’s Office.

New members Tom Oliver in Zone 2 and Nick Brooks in Zone 5 will join incumbent Michael Martin, who was unchallenged and won nearly 100 percent of the vote in Zone 3.

Oliver received 1,965 (66.34 percent) of the 3,145 votes cast in Zone 2, ahead of Linda McLucas (375/12.66 percent), Kellie Weber (366/12.36 percent) and Donnie Witherspoon (240/8.10 percent).

Brooks received 1,718 (58.71 percent) of the 3,145 votes cast in Zone 5, ahead of Jeannie Davis (783/26.76 percent) and Jerry L. Williams (409/13.98 percent).

Martin received all but 43 of the 3,145 votes cast in Zone 3, which totals 98.14 percent.

Turnout in Zone 2 was 15.20 percent of registered voters. In Zone 3, turnout was 15.20 percent, while in Zone 5 it was 15.20 percent.
