Halloween Happenings: October 2017

Following are local Halloween events planned for Lebanon and surrounding areas:

Oct. 13-31: Pumpkin Patch  Grandpa’s Fresh Market offers hay rides, sunflower maze, play area, pumpkins, gourds, hay bales, cornstalks and cider for your harvest fun. Open daily 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Located at 36483 Hwy 226 SE, Albany. School Groups for the pumpkin patch can be scheduled by calling (541) 928-8778.

Oct. 14, 21, 27: Ghost Hunting  The Monteith Society is hosting its annual VIP Ghost Hunting Experience at the historic Monteith House, 518 SW 2nd Ave, Albany. Hours are 10:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Each VIP experience is limited to 10 people who will be joined by experienced paranormal investigators, and will learn how to use various pieces of ghost hunting equipment. Oct. 27, 28, 31: Donaca House  This 1800 historic home has been haunted with the side show freaks from the past. Witness the horrific human oddities that Dr. Foley has created. Open 6 to 11 p.m. at 764 South 2nd St, Lebanon. $10 for adults, $5 for children under 18.

Oct. 28: Zombie Zoup Run  The second annual Zombie Zoup Run will take place at 10 a.m. starting at the Jim Riggs Community Center, 880 18th Ave., Sweet Home. Participants will find out if they can outrun or out-maneuver zombies desperate to catch them on the two mile course.

All participants – survivors, zombies and volunteers – get free admission to the Great Community Soup Event held in the gym at the completion of the event. Pre-registration cost is $20; onsite registration cost is $25 starting at 9 a.m. Children under 10 and accompanied by a paying adult are free. Proceeds from the event go to Sunshine Industries, which serves disabled individuals. Oct. 28: Ghouls and Growls  The Lebanon Arts Commission will host a dog Halloween costume contest at the Strawberry Plaza from 11 a.m. to noon. Cost is $10 per contestant. Prizes will be awarded for Most Adorable, Most Creative, Most Fanciful, Most Scary, and People’s Choice. Sponsored by the Lebanon Animal Hospital. Oct. 31: Lebanon Trick or Treat  Lebanon’s trick or treat event will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. downtown, and 4:40 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the south end of town. This is a free event. For more information, contact Dala Johnson at (541) 258-4339.
