LHS praises Casey McEuen for state titles

Lebanon High School’s athletic director, Kraig Hoene, called a special school assembly to honor the swim team Feb. 21.

The boys Warrior swim team finished 2nd at the 5A State Swimming Championships Feb. 17, and Casey McEuen continued to break records by winning two state titles.

“This weekend he did something extraordinary,” Hoene told the assembly. “In the 100 butterfly he set the 5A state record, so he’s the fastest swimmer in the 100 butterfly in the history of Oregon’s 5A.

“Even better, in his signature event, the 50 free relay where Casey already holds the 5A state record, in the year 2018 he swam a 20.18. A 20.18 is the Oregon all-time record, so Casey is now the fastest swimmer to ever swim in the OSAA in the state of Oregon.”

Hoene presented McEuen with a T-shirt that marked his 20.18 record for his 2018 graduating year.

“It’s an incredible accomplishment by one your classmates, and I want to acknowledge his outstanding performance, along with all of our kids so far for this season.”

Hoene also honored the varsity cheer team for winning 2nd at the OCCA Cheer Championships, and wrestlers Keith Brown for finishing 2nd in state, Lane Blisseck and Chase Miller for placing 3rd in State, and Landon Kisling and Wyatt Richardson for placing 5th in state.

In addition, the LHS Explosion Dance Team took 2nd in the 5A at the Sheldon competition.
