Pedestrian struck by pickup dies

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man who was hit by a pickup truck whose driver was arrested on drunk driving charges on Airport Drive in Lebanon early Sunday, Sept. 6.

According to Sheriff Michelle Duncan, her office received a report of the crash at 12:05 a.m. Sunday.

Duncan said Tamera Hines, 60, of Lebanon was driving a 2010 Dodge Dakota pickup eastbound near 36326 Airport Drive when she collided with a man standing in the roadway.

The male, identified as Joshua Barnes, 43, of Lebanon, was declared deceased at the scene.

Duncan said another vehicle may have struck Hines’ Dakota after it came to a stop.

Hines remained at the scene and, during the investigation, was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants and for reckless driving.

Deputies at the scene were assisted by Lebanon police, the Linn County Medical Examiner’s Office and Linn County Road Department.

Duncan said an investigation is ongoing and more charges may be pending. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (541) 967-3950.
