Joan Lee Saunders, 93, of Lebanon, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
She was born Dec. 4, 1932, to Madeline (Bemis) and Paul Gelatt in Seattle, Wash.
She and her husband, Sandy Sr., moved to Hawaii, where they had their son Sandy Jr. They moved back to Albany and then to Lebanon, where Joan’s parents lived and became her home until she passed.
Joan enjoyed spending time outside, gardening, crafting, and taking care of her animals. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved to watch her granddaughters’ sports.
She is survived by her son Sandy Saunders Jr.; grandchildren Tasha (Branden) Myers, Tianna Saunders, Ryder Brooks, Talisha (Blake) Miller, Amanda Murphy, Curtis and Darell Ostlund, and Danica Garcia; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Janette Gelatt; sister Judy Iverson; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sandy Saunder Sr. (2022); son Steve Ostlund (2026); and daughter Sue Murphy.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
