Construction on Airport Road between 2nd and 7th streets is under way and expected to last a few days.
The intent of the project, part of the city’s 2018 Street Preservation Project, is to provide a new driving surface as well as fix any areas of failing roadway base. The existing roadway surface will be removed and a new asphalt overlay will be applied. The work began Tuesday, July 31.
During construction, Airport Road traffic flow and access is being controlled by flaggers from 2nd Street to 7th Street. The 5th Street and 7th Street intersections with Airport Road will be closed with detours in place. Residents in the affected area should expect delays and/or detours around construction activities. Residents will be afforded reasonable access but should expect short periods of time where access to individual driveways may not be possible, in addition to periodic delays and other related inconveniences.
