Commissioners approve agreement on jail beds

Linn County commissioners Roger Nyquist, Sherrie Sprenger and Will Tucker on Tuesday, June 6, approved an intergovernmental agreement to provide beds at the Linn County Jail for Benton County inmates at a rate of $105 per bed per day.

Sheriff Michelle Duncan said the initial agreement began in 2010 and has been updated eight times, calling the need to house Benton inmates extremely rare.

In other business, the commissioners:

♦ Approved an intergovernmental agreement with Lincoln County to provide Linn County Public Health with up to $350,000 to supply nurses to visit homes of vulnerable mothers to provide care and support to have healthy pregnancies.

♦ Approved writing off the following non-collectible Health Services accounts: Mental Health Services, 32 totaling $8,133; Alcohol & Drug Treatment Program, 34 totaling $2,839; Public Health, 36 totaling $65.88.

♦ Approved a $1,200 refund to the Oregon Department of Human Services.

♦ Approved expanding the Noxious Weed Control Advisory Committee from seven to nine members, appointing Mellissa Barnard and John Jayne to the additional positions.

♦ Announced the scheduling of an elected-officials meeting from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, at the Linn County Expo Center, 3700 Knox Butte Road E, Albany. These monthly meetings are open to the public.

♦ Held an executive session to discuss a potential real estate transaction. In a public session, the board gave Linn County Administrative Officer Darrin Lane direction to pursue the potential transaction.
