Detectives investigate injuries to 1-year-old

Lebanon Police responded to a report at 12 a.m. on Tues., Jan. 31, regarding suspicious injuries to a one-year-old child. The child was brought to the Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital by the child’s parents and was later transported to Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emmanuel for further care and treatment.

Lebanon detectives were notified and responded. An investigation revealed the child was in the care of two adult males known to the parents when the injuries occurred. The injuries corroborated statements detectives obtained during the investigation, leading to the arrest of Caden James Waskom, 22, and Todd Allen Daniel Altherr, 35, both of Lebanon.

Waskom and Altherr were charged with third-degree assault and first-degree criminal mistreatment. Both were lodged at Linn County Jail.

This is still an active investigation. If anyone has information regarding this case, contact Lebanon Police Detective James Glover at 541.258.4326 or Lieutenant Ryan Padua at 541.258.4325.
