Education Service District seeks local board member

Linn Benton Lincoln Education Service District is accepting applications for an open board director seat, Zone 5.

The vacancy follows the resignation of board member Terry Deacon this month.

LBL ESD comprises 12 component school districts and over 89 schools with approximately 37,000 students in Linn, Benton and Lincoln counties. LBL ESD also serves students and districts elsewhere in Oregon through grants and contracts. Its governance structure includes a seven-member Board.

The district’s purpose is to serve educational agencies, districts, and schools in the three-county area with high-quality services and programs that are practical, reliable and economical.

LBL ESD has an annual budget of approximately $60 million and work force of approximately 225 employees.

The Zone 5 geographical area covers much of Lebanon, Waterloo and Sodaville areas. To determine whether your address is in this boundary zone, please call Jo Dee Trader at (541) 812-2750. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Aug. 9.

Based on Oregon Revised Statute and LBL Policy, the Board of Directors are to employ a process to appoint a replacement to this open seat. The term of appointment will be from Sept. 15 to June 30, 2023, and the process can be found within the application materials.

To qualify, those interested in applying must have lived in the ESD at least 12 months prior to an appointment within the Linn Benton Lincoln region, be a registered voter in the Zone 5 boundary, not be an officer or employee of the ESD, and be 18 years of age or older.
