Winter sports are winding down for Lebanon high schools, with East Linn Christian’s boys basketball team ranked third.
East Linn (14-1, 21-3) trailed Gold Beach (15-0, 21-3) with a single league loss to third-place Oakland as Lebanon Local went to press. Their final league game was scheduled for Feb. 10 (after Lebanon Local’s deadline) at Gold Beach, which would be the teams’ first meeting.
Lebanon boys were 2-10, 5-13 overall, as Lebanon Local went to press.
On the girls side, the Warriors, ranked ninth, were on the fine line of playoffs qualification, in fifth place in the Mid-Willamette Conference at 7-5, 11-7. Lebanon turned around a four-game losing streak in early January by going 6-1. They had six games left at press time. The top four teams in the MWC will make the playoffs.
East Linn’s girls (7-8, 11-13) were in a three-way tie for sixth, on the cusp of qualifying for playoffs, with one regular-season game left on their league schedule, at Gold Beach (5-10, 6-17) on Feb. 10.
Lebanon’s cheer team was scheduled to compete at the OSAA state championships, at which the Warriors won last year’s 5A title, Feb. 11 in Portland.
In swimming, the Warriors competed in the district meet Feb. 10-11 and any qualifiers will move on to the state championships Feb. 17-18 in Tualatin.
The Warrior wrestlers compete Feb. 17-18 on the MWC district championships at Salem Armory, followed by the state championships Feb. 23-25 at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland.
