Linn County Sheriff deputies responded to a fatal crash yesterday at 10:50 a.m. on Old Santiam Highway near the intersection of Fairview Road, outside Lebanon.
A 17-year-old male was driving a 1983 Toyota pick-up on Fairview Road toward the intersection of Old Santiam Highway. As he crossed the intersection, he lost control of his vehicle, striking a bicyclist traveling on Old Santiam Highway.
The bicyclist was identified as Kenneth Haigler, 60, of Corvallis. When medics arrived, Haigler was determined to be deceased. Haigler’s family was notified of his passing.
The Linn County Multi-Agency Investigation Team that specializes in accident reconstruction was called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
Linn County deputies were assisted by Lebanon Fire Department, Albany Police Department, Lebanon Police Department and Oregon State Police.
