City of Lebanon residents interested in serving in local elected government have the opportunity to run for City Council this fall.
Currently, there are four seats open on the ballot for the November election. Those four seats are the mayoral seat as well as three council seats. Qualified candidates can declare their intention to run for office by filing a Statement of Candidacy. Those interested must live in the City of Lebanon and be a registered voter in Linn County. All the filing requirements can be found here. The deadline to file is July 31, 2024.
Filing opens at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 1. Packets must be returned in person to the city clerk’s office no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31. Packets may not be mailed in or emailed. Candidate packets can be picked up from City Hall. Packets are also available on the city website.
The General Election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Newly elected officeholders will be sworn in and begin their terms January 2025.
