The Lebanon City Council Ward 2 seat occupied by Karin Stauder is open, after Stauder resigned Jan. 13, announcing she is moving to central Oregon.
The position should be filled by a qualified elector who resides within the boundaries of Ward 2. To qualify, applicants must be a registered voter, have lived in the City of Lebanon continuously for a minimum of six months prior to appointment, and may not be an immediate family member of an already seated elected official or city staff member.
Ward 2 can be generally described as the north east of the City. (See ward map at www.ci.lebanon.or.us/citycouncil/page/city-ward-map.)
The term for this position ends Dec. 31, 2022 and the occupant would be eligible for election in November of 2022 to a four-year term.
The City Council functions as the governing body of the City of Lebanon. It establishes city ordinances and resolutions, adopts the city budget, and is the final authority for city business. The council normally meets monthly at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday and at noon on the fourth Wednesday, if needed. On occasion, councilors are asked to attend special meetings and events.

Deadline for completed applications is 5 p.m. on Feb. 12.
Applicants will be interviewed by the City Council at its March 10, meeting. The finalist will be sworn in at the April 14 City Council meeting.
