Lebanon Local claims two ONPA awards

It’s all smiles for Hudson Altamirano, 2, and his mother Brittany as they collaborate in an attempt to win a clown contest at Conversion Brewing’s new summer camp event.

Lebanon Local received two awards in the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association’s contest for associate member newspapers, presented at the ONPA Convention on July 28.
Sarah Brown received a second-place award for a photo of a toddler wearing a clown nose as he competed in a contest, which was published in the July-August 2021 edition.
Brown was awarded third place in News Writing for a story about how the Gillott Home Team devoted a service project to building a treehouse for a local girl, Rialee Roth, who was battling cancer. It appeared in the May-June 2021 edition (see at lebanonlocalnews.com/local-real-estate-agents-reach-out-to-build-treehouse-for-young-cancer-patient/)

“These awards put Sarah in company with some of the best reporters in the state,” said Publisher and Editor Scott Swanson. The Associate division includes newspapers that are distributed for free, such as Eugene Weekly and the Portland Tribune, which distributes 50,000 copies, industry- and business-focused publications such as the Capital Press, and nearly 20 monthlies.
“We’re really happy to see that talent and effort rewarded.”
