Cory Robert Lake, 44, was arrested on July 30 for menacing, unlawful use of a firearm, two counts reckless endangering and pointing a firearm at another person.
At 12:02 a.m., Lebanon Police Officers responded to a call to investigate a report of a domestic situation potentially involving a firearm at 304 Park St.
Prior to officers’ arrival, it was reported that the male suspect had fired a shot into the air from his backyard and that he had made suicidal statements.
When officers arrived, a perimeter was set around the residence; the female caller was able to leave the residence and took shelter behind a Lebanon patrol vehicle. Linn County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Oregon State Police troopers arrived to assist in containing the situation.
North-bound Park Street was closed at Rose Street during the incident. Officers could hear the male, identified as Lake, in the backyard of the residence attempting to operate the slide on a firearm.
An LPD sergeant was able to speak to Lake on the telephone. After 34 minutes of conversation, Lake exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident, ending the nearly hour-long standoff. There were no injuries during this incident.
Lake was transported and lodged at Linn County Jail.
