The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting of a Lebanon man.
Deputies responded to a 911 call for a disturbance with shots fired in the 600 block of B Street at 9:10 p.m. on July 23.
They found Jerry Lynn Chasteen, 58, of Lebanon, had been shot multiple times. Deputies determined a large-caliber handgun was used in a neighborhood dispute between Chasteen and Donald Barry Avritt, 25, of Lebanon.
Chasteen was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis for serious injuries and is listed in stable condition.
Avritt and witnesses were detained and detectives are currently processing the scene for further evidence.
The Linn County Sheriff’s office was assisted by Lebanon Fire Department and Lebanon and Albany Police Departments.
No arrests have been made at this time.
The investigation is continuing into the possibility of this being a criminal matter or self-defense. All parties are cooperating with investigators.
