Lebanon police have arrested a suspect in the June 6 robbery of Chase Bank.
Based on evidence found near the scene of the robbery, police arrested Jeffery Martin Lee Peak, 37, a transient, in “the coastal area,” according to a statement from LPD.
According to a department report, police were dispatched at about 5:58 p.m. on June 6 to a report of a robbery that had just occurred at the bank, at 75 E. Grant St.
The caller reported the male suspect had fled on foot, eastbound on East Grant Street, with an undisclosed amount of money. No weapon was brandished and there were no injuries to any persons, according to police.
Upon arrival in the area, officers set up a perimeter around the bank, entered the building and cleared the occupants. No additional suspects were located inside, police said.
Lebanon officers canvassed the area and surrounding neighborhoods; however the suspect was not located at that time and is still at-large. Video surveillance as well as other evidentiary items were collected at the bank location.
Police said a concerned citizen later located a jacket matching what the suspect was wearing at the time of the robbery and called the police. The jacket was recovered and, along with other evidence left by the suspect at the bank, was sent to the Oregon State Crime Lab for analysis.
Detectives received information from the Oregon State Crime Lab regarding the identity of the suspect from that evidence. Detectives confirmed the suspect was Peak.
Today, June 13, detectives located Peak and, with assistance of the Lincoln City Police Department, the FBI and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, he was taken into custody without incident, police said.
At this point, the case is still being actively worked and investigated. More information is expected, according to the LPD statement.
Anyone with further information regarding this case is asked to contact the Lebanon Police Department Detectives Division at (541) 451-1751.
