Lebanon writer Mary Ann Hake was awarded the Youth Book of the Year from the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association (AWSA) for her book, “Just a Piece of Stone.”
Her book follows the story of a stone that has been passed down through generations, giving readers insight into snippets of history, including the Holocaust, meeting Leonardo Da Vinci, castles, knights, battles and thefts. The family faces kidnapping, explores caves, flees as refugees, and lives under various conquerors.
AWSA announced the winners of the 2026 Golden Scroll Awards during the 18th annual Golden Scroll Banquet earlier this month at the St. Charles Convention Center in St. Charles, MO. Awards were presented by Linda Evans Shepherd, founder and CEO of AWSA, Dawn Damon, CEO of BraveHearted Woman, and Carol Kent, founder of the Speak Up Conference and the nonprofit organization Speak Up for Hope.
The Golden Scroll Awards are open to nearly 1,200 members of the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association.
AWSA, the sponsor of the Golden Scroll Awards Banquet, is an outreach of Right to the Heart Ministries and consists of nearly 1,200 top women authors who both publish and speak nationally.
