Library hosts la flamenco

The Lebanon Public Library hosted Flamenco Pacifico, a group comprised of musicians and dancers along the West Coast, Jan. 24, which presented an educational demonstration of the music and dance surrounding flamenco.

Grant Ruiz taught clapping (“palmas”) and voicing (“jipio”) techniques to encourage audience participation.

“It’s not only an art form that comprises music, song, dance and rhythm, but it is also a way of life,” he said. “Flamenco, in its native form, is used for people to express themselves, their emotions.”
