Library summer reading activities to start June 12

The Lebanon Public Library’s 2018 Summer Reading Program Libraries Rock begins June 1.

This program celebrates reading throughout the summer and is open to all ages. Visit the library and pick up a Reading Journal, use it to keep track your reading and bring your journal back to the Library to claim prizes.

Families are encouraged to sign up and read together.

There will be a variety of performers to entertain the crowds this summer and free lunches will be provided for children at each event. The Summer Lunch Program is provided by the USDA and is an equal opportunity provider.

The schedule includes:

• June 14, at 11 a.m., Kickoff with Juggler and Musician Corey Jenkins.

• June 16 at 1 p.m., Chintimini Chamber Music Children’s Concert.

• June 21 at 11 a.m., Lego Day.

• June 28 at 11a.m., Iris Nason of Growing Arts Center Yoga.

• July 12 at 11 a.m., Lego Day.

• July 19 at 11 a.m., Border Collies International.

• July 26 at 11 a.m., Science and Craft Day.

• Aug. 2 at 11 a.m., Alphabeticians.

• Aug. 7 at 2-4 p.m., New York Modern Pop Artist Michael Albert collage art class

• Aug. 9 at 11 a.m., Interactive Movie

• Aug. 16, Grand Finale after Hours Party, for readers who complete 20 hours of reading and have turned in their Reading Journals by Aug. 15.

In addition to the Summer Reading Performers Series the library will host:

• Tuesdays, June 12 – Aug. 7 at 10 a.m., Rain or Shine Outdoor Storytime

• Wednesdays, July 11, 18 and 25 at 3 p.m., Book Club for ages 9-13

• Wednesdays, Aug. 1 and 8 at 3 p.m., Manga Book Club for ages 12-16 – space and materials are limited, so please register at the main circulation desk or call the Library.

The Summer Reading Program gets funding assistance fromOregon’s Ready to Read Grant and t the Friends of the Lebanon Public Library. 

Events are free of charge and do not require a library card.
