Mary Louise Glaser

Mary Louise (Roberts) Glaser
March 25, 1935 – April 25, 2024

A Celebration of Life for Mary Louise (Roberts) Glaser, age 89, will take place on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at The Shift Church, 5775 Columbus St SE, Albany.

Mary was born March 25, 1935, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Herbert and Alma (Clever) Roberts. Her first seven years of school were at a one-room
country school in Ohio. Her family moved from Ohio to Iowa in 1948, and then to Oregon in 1950. Mary graduated with the Lebanon Union High School Class of 1953 and from Emanuel Hospital School of Nursing in Portland, in 1956.

Mary married Marvin Glaser on September 7, 1956, at First Baptist Church in Lebanon. She worked as a Registered Nurse in the Lebanon Community Hospital Maternity Department for several years and then became a stay-at-home mother and worked with Marvin in their fiberglass business.

Mary and Marvin moved to Scio in 1960, purchasing acreage at the end of what is now Glaser Drive. They enjoyed living on the property until
each of their deaths.

Mary received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior when she was a freshman in high school, and her goal was to honor Him with her life. She
attended Scio Baptist Church for over 55 years and was active in various ministries for all ages and in work that supported missionaries.  Prayer was a vital part of her daily life, and she faithfully prayed for family, friends, missionaries, and many others each day.

Mary enjoyed genealogy and compiled family history books for several branches of the family. Mary also enjoyed reading, photography, gardening, and hunting morel mushrooms. She treasured her daily two-mile walks where she spent time in prayer as she walked. Her
family and church were very important to her, and she loved hosting gatherings at their home down through the years.

Mary and Marvin had 58 happily married years together before Marvin died on September 11, 2014. Mary was also preceded in death by her parents and brother Paul Roberts.

Two years after Marvin’s death, a friendship with their high school classmate, Gary Shanks, was renewed. Mary enjoyed meeting up with Gary to worship together at Waterloo Chapel, where she continued attending after Gary’s death in 2018. Mary Glaser graduated to her heavenly home on April 25, 2024, after a short but fierce five-month battle with Multiple Myeloma cancer.

She is survived by her children Mike Glaser (Shannan), Margie Straw (Eric), Mark Glaser (Sara), and Marcy Glaser, all of Scio. Her eleven grandchildren are Craig Glaser (Holli), Brian Glaser ( Jordyn), Lindy Navarro (Rob); Jennifer Church (Tyler), Kevin Straw, Matthew
Straw (Emily), Rebekah Straw; Gretchen Acheson (Merritt), William Glaser (Natalie), Jessica Pittelkow ( Joe), and Caleb Glaser (Hannah); and her 28 great-grandchildren are Braedon, Aubrey, Krissa, Davis, Rory, Esme, Abel, Asen, Linnea, Luci, Kate, Samuel and Raymond Glaser; Natalie, Seth, Noah, and Lydia Church; Nimue, Isaac, Molly, Mark, and Elsie Straw; Ruth, Mary, Daniel, and Sara Acheson; and William and Edmund Pittelkow. She is also survived by her sisters Miriam Brazel of Toledo; Lois Moran of Albany, Gladys Hradecky of Jamul, California; and Dorothy Cline of Helena, Montana.

Throughout her 89 years, Mary left a loving imprint on countless lives, and she is deeply missed. Her family and friends will forever treasure the memories of this very kind and generous lady who walked faithfully with the Savior.

Mary was interred at the IOOF cemetery in Lebanon. Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International or a charity of the donor’s choice.
