Veterans, friends and family gave their morning to remember those who served and those who have fallen during a Memorial Day service at the IOOF Cemetery.
Chuck Bennett shared his story about following his older brother, Burt Bennett, into the U.S. Army in 1948. Born and raised in Michigan, the brothers were stationed together and were both assigned to Camp Drake in Tokyo in 1949. They parted ways as they were shipped to Korea. Burt Bennett was killed in action July 27, 1950.
“Every day is Memorial Day,” said Chuck Bennett.
