Mother of 4-month-old charged with assault

The mother of a 4-month-old was charged with second-degree assault and first-degree criminal mischief following an investigation into “serious physical injury” of her child.

Lebanon Police Department responded to a call at about 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, regarding a child at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital with serious physical injury. According to press release by LPD, the initial explanation for the child’s injury was suspicious in nature.

Detectives’ investigation revealed the child was in the care of its mother, 21-year-old Miranda Oeder, when the injury occurred. Oeder admitted to detectives that she was responsible for the injury.

The child was transported to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital for further care. Oeder was taken into custody and lodged at Linn County Jail.
