Lebanon, Linn County and Oregon State police assisted in a motorcycle chase that began in Lebanon and ended in Upper Calapooia on the evening of April 2.
According to an incident report through Lebanon Police Department, police initiated an attempted traffic stop at 9:01 p.m. on South Main Street and clocked the driver at 70 MPH. As he approached Crowfoot Road, his speed was clocked at 95 MPH.
The driver, later identified as Kevin Austin Corrington, 25 – who has addresses listed in both Lebanon and Sweet Home – turned onto Crowfoot and headed toward South Main. He turned north on South Main and then West on Jadon Drive before proceeding back to South Main toward Rock Hill Drive. At that point, he was clocked at 90 MPH.
Corrington turned west on Rock Hill and headed south toward Brownsville. When he entered Brownsville, he turned west on Locust Avenue, then north on Oak Street, west on Hausman Avenue, and north on Linn Way (which becomes 7 Mile Lane). Corrington was clocked at this point at 85 MPH. He continued traveling north of Brownsville before returning south toward the town. He turned east on Kirk Avenue and proceeded east on Northern Drive where he was clocked at 55 MPH on s-curves.
The driver then took OR-228 eastbound into Crawfordsville, and was clocked at 90 MPH before passing Crescent Hill Road. He turned southeast onto Upper Calapooia Drive where his speed eventually decreased to 55 MPH. Pavement on the road later turned to gravel.
The report indicates Corrington, who was driving a Harley Davidson, was “at gunpoint” at 9:43 p.m., and the Linn County Sheriff’s Office took him into custody. A Ruger was seized. Corrington was charged April 3 with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, reckless driving, criminal driving while suspended or revoked, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Bail was set at $10,000.
In October 2019, Corrington pleaded no contest to DUII (liquor) and failure to perform the duties of a driver-property damage, with a reckless driving charge dismissed. In August 2022, he pleaded no contest to DUII (liquor), with a reckless driving charge dismissed. According to court documents, the 2022 charges were related to an OSP-issued citation that included speeding 83/55. Corrington did not, however, fulfill his sentencing requirements to complete treatment services and a warrant was issued for further court hearings.
In November 2023, he was charged again with speeding 85/55, criminal driving while suspended or revoked, and unlawful possession of a firearm. A warrant was issued for failure to appear. He was served his warrants when arrested on April 2. Bail for the November 2023 case was set at $5,000.
