Multiple fire departments put out fire on Denny School Road

The Lebanon Fire District responded to a large fire near the address of 32625 Denny School road at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5.

According to a department statement, upon arrival firefighters found an approximately quarter acre fire burning into a large rubbish pile and two small outbuildings. Winds from the west pushed winds the fire into an adjacent field and it became a fast-moving grass fire.

Lebanon firefighters were able to slow the spread, but mutual aid was requested from Albany, Brownsville, Halsey and Tangent fire departments to assist with extinguishing the fire. The fire was brought under control at approximately 8 p.m. One civilian suffered minor burns to her to arms when she attempted to extinguish the fire. She was transported to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital for evaluation.

Units remained on scene for another hour to ensure all hot spots had been extinguished.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Lebanon Fire District would like to remind the citizens of Lebanon that we are now in extreme fire danger conditions and back yard burning is not allowed.
