Police and court updates in Sweet Home June 5-11, 2023

Every individual named or referenced is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Warrants are out on the following individuals: Calvin Alvin Ames, Samuel Frank Ayers, Curtis Ray Daniel, Joshua Scott Dawson, Ashlee Dee Flanagan, Aaron Thomas Halvorson, Isaac Booker Justham, Noe Hernandez-Reyes, Michael Trevor Hilton, Ariel Shanea Kaping, Faron Walter Kennedy, Andrew Donald LeGore, Carrie Lynne Miller, Kendra Lynne Montoya, Larry Robert Morgan, Julianne Nicole Phillips, Joseph Clayton Pritchett, Christopher Thomas Reed, Tammy Lavonn Robinson, Paul Levi Shelton, Zachary Shane Stegner and Cameron Michael Wark.

Travis Alexander Ayres, 23, was charged May 31 with two counts of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and reckless driving. Bail was set at $10,000.

Wendy Lee Grogan, 54, was sentenced May 19 to 10 days in jail, 18 months bench probation and a $100 fine based on a no-contest plea to perjury after being placed under oath and unlawfully and knowingly making a false sworn statement in regard to a material issue, knowing it to be false.

Kenneth Daniel Helfrich, 41, was charged May 30 with assaulting a public safety officer, second-degree disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Bail was set at $10,000.

Austin Leroy Gray Jackson, 27, was charged May 31 with second-degree burglary and second-degree theft for allegedly entering a home on Ridgeway Road and stealing tools and ammunition.

Joshua Ryan Mesna, 30, was charged June 9 with fourth-degree assault constituting domestic violence.

June 5

12:19 p.m. – Deputies assisted a semi truck driver who got turned around on a gravel road and escorted him back to the highway, 25300 block of McClun Road.

1:54 p.m. – David Joshua Wall, 28, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of second-degree theft, Oregon Department of Corrections.

3:59 p.m. – Deputies responded to a disturbance in the 27200 block of High Deck Road. Deputies provided a courtesy ride to town to separate the parties.

6:41 p.m. – Caller reported running into an apartment building while moving a vehicle, 2400 block of Main St. Report taken. Damage: over $2,500.

7:15 p.m. – Caller reported that someone shot at his son with a BB gun from a vehicle, 22nd Ave./Long St. Report taken for unlawful use of a weapon. Investigation continuing.

8:11 p.m. – Lorenzo Benjamin Corona Snow and Danny James Hardin were cited for speeding and speed-racing, 18th Ave./Long St.

8:12 p.m. – David Lee Oviatt, 43, was cited and released on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of harassment, 1120 block of 18th Ave. Arrested on Oregon State Parole Board warrant for parole violation.

8:18 p.m. – Male found illegally camped along Hwy. 20 was advised to move along, 44000 block of Hwy. 20.

10:31 p.m. – Jack Edward Counts, 34, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of fraudulent use of credit card, Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

June 6

9:30 a.m. – Caller reported siphoned gas, 1300 block of 47th Ave. Report taken for third-degree theft. Value: $20.

9:34 a.m. – Chelsey Devault, 60, of Sweet Home, was cited for dog as a public nuisance, 43100 block of North River Drive.

10:18 a.m. – Sterling Daniel Sherburn, 23, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of third-degree theft, Lebanon Police Department.

12:57 p.m. – Jacob Matthew Bruce was cited for speeding, 47th Ave./Nandina St.

1:29 p.m. – Caller reported that a backpack with a Chromebook had been stolen sometime the previous year, 300 block of Strawberry Loop. Report taken for second-degree theft. Value: $480.

3:39 p.m. – Brianna Wodtli, 25, of Sweet Home, cited for speeding, 73/55, Hwy. 20/Liberty Road.

8:47 p.m. – Report taken for a non-injury motor vehicle crash, 1300 block of Main St. Vehicle was out of roadway. Damage: over $2,500.

11:27 p.m. – April Grace Gerhold, 32, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of second-degree criminal mischief, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

11:35 p.m. – Gilbert Alonzo Martinez, 47, was cited and released on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply on an original charge of second-degree criminal trespass, 1600 block of Elm St.

June 7

7:58 a.m. – Deputy documented a burglary that occurred between April 26 and May 5 at a residence in the 41300 block of Upper Calapooia Drive. The incident was not reported at the time. Missing items include Derringer .22 pistol, three watches, coins, $750 in cash and two Schwinn bicycles. Report taken.

8:09 a.m. – Caller reported a motor-vehicle crash near the 1100 block of 18th Ave. Report taken. An unidentified male was transported by medics. No further information was available.

9:42 a.m. – An abandoned vehicle was reported in the 28600 block of Hwy. 20. Information forwarded to Oregon State Police.

3:05 p.m. – Caller reported wanting to trespass a male acting aggressively toward the staff at the Managed Outreach & Community Resource Facility, 1450 24th Ave. Caller called back and reported that the suspect had kicked a gate into a staff member’s face. The staff member was injured and required a medic. Clifford Lawrence Stoner, 50, was cited and released for fourth-degree assault and second-degree criminal trespass.

5:02 p.m. – A single motorcycle crash was reported in the 24700 block of Brush Creek Road. According to Sheriff’s Office, Joshua Jeffferson, 39, of Lebanon, was riding a Harley Davidson XL8 when he hit loose gravel on a corner and crashed. Minor injuries. Report taken.

5:38 p.m. – Connie Roxanne Pierce, 56, was arrested for DUII, reckless driving and on a warrant following a single-vehicle rollover near milepost 17 on Hwy. 228. According to Oregon State Police, Pierce was traveling on Hwy. 228 when her Chevrolet Camaro failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and rolled in the eastbound ditch. Pierce, who was transported to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, admitted to being drunk and provided a blood sample, according to OSP. The vehicle was towed.

8:07 p.m. – Tomas Stafford, 18, was cited for speeding 55/35, west city limits, Hwy. 20.

8:19 p.m. – Ervin Smith, 69, cited for driving uninsured, west city limits, Hwy. 20.

8:35 p.m. – Lisa Johnston, 48, of Albany, was cited and released on warrants, 42900 block of North River Drive. Report taken.

8:47 p.m. – Lisa Dawn Johnston, 48, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for second-degree theft, Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

9:04 p.m. – Lily Keeney, 22, was cited for driving with a suspended license, 2400 block of Main St.

10:21 p.m. – Savanna Ann Rose Tyree, 18, was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device, 1100 block of 10th Ave.

10:52 p.m. – Scott Taggart Kellum, 69, was cited for failure to provide proof of insurance, 2400 block of Main St.

June 8

4:22 a.m. – Bobbi Jo Stroud, 45, was cited and released on a Linn County Justice Court warrant for contempt of court, Clark Mill Road/Main St. She was also cited for driving with a suspended license and driving uninsured.

10:33 a.m. – Deputies responded to a case of illegal dumping in a forest, 41700 block of Marks Ridge Drive. Suspect has been identified. Investigation ongoing.

11:31 p.m. – Cameron Barnhart, 24, of Sweet Home, was cited for speeding, 75/55, Santiam Hwy./Fairview Road.

June 9

1:23 a.m. – Deputy responded to a report of a stalking order violation, 40300 block of Holley Heights Loop. This was the latest of several such reports within recent days. Investigation ongoing. Report taken.

2:20 a.m. – Illegal campers in the 43300 block of North River Drive were told to depart.

2:25 a.m. – Illegal campers in the 43700 block of North River Drive were told to depart.

8:14 a.m. – Brittany Parker, 31, of Sweet Home was cited for failure to renew vehicle registration, Main St./23rd Ave.

5:55 p.m. – Caller reported male dumping gasoline on vehicles in the 40000 block of Hwy. 228. Deputy responded and learned that the man was using a water-filled jug to wash his vehicle.

June 10

9:05 a.m. – Caller with “continuing and increasing mental health concerns” called the Sheriff’s Office regarding issues reported dozens of times previously, including several in the previous seven days. 800 block of 43rd Ave.

12:29 p.m. – A wakeboard boat cast a large wake that almost swamped a small fishing boat. The trolling motor on the fishing boat broke as a result of the wake. 45000 block of Quartzville Road. Report taken.

12:48 p.m. – A citation was issued to a vehicle parked in a law-enforcement-only parking spot at Sunnyside Park, 44900 block of Quartzville Drive, Foster.

3:09 p.m. – Lillian Langen Swartzendruber, 20, of Salem, was cited for no personal flotation device, Foster Lake, 43700 block of North River Drive. Report taken.

4:01 p.m. – A two-vehicle crash was reported at the entrance to Sunnyside Park, 44900 block of Quartzville Drive, Foster. According to Sheriff’s Office, Deanne Williams, 63, of Foster, was not happy after learning about the new $7 day use fee for Sunnyside Park. She allegedly refused to pay the fee, put her car in reverse and backed into the car behind her in line. The car behind her was operated by Miranda Ridders, 46, of Lebanon. The vehicles were a 2004 Nissan Altima, and a 2004 Chevy Impala. Which vehicle belonged to whom was not clear from Sheriff’s log. A female juvenile suffered a neck injury and was transported to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital. Report taken.

5:41 p.m. – Deputy patrolling dispersed camping along Quartzville Road tagged two abandoned illegal camps on BLM land. The occupants were advised to leave.

6:01 p.m. – A domestic disturbance was reported in the area of North River Drive/Quartzville Road. The Sheriff’s Office responded. No crimes. “Female half was extremely intoxicated.”

6:30 p.m. – A non-injury crash was reported in the 49700 block of Quartzville Road. No one was transported, no property damage. Value of vehicle under $2,500. No further action.

6:34 p.m. – Caller reported several items stolen from the side of a house in the 4600 block of Live Oak St.

6:35 p.m. – Shyanne Nickole Church, 25, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply on an original charge of failure to appear on an original charge, Linn County.

7:06 p.m. – A female operator who had parked her vehicle partially in a lane of travel to attend a party was instructed to remove it, 44700 block of Quartzville Road.

11:24 p.m. – Caller reported his parents physically fighting, 1600 block of 13th Ave. The father had a hold of the mother and was refusing to let go. Johnny Ray Cockrell, 30, was placed in custody for domestic violence – strangulation.

June 11

2:51 a.m. – Vance Eugene Marshall, 41, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply on an original charge of second-degree criminal mischief, Springfield.

8:00 a.m. – Deputy checked a suspicious vehicle at McKercher Park, 37800 block of Hwy. 228, Brownsville. A male was discovered picking up cans and debris.

11:42 a.m. – Deputy responded to a report of a damaged residential window in the 28100 block of Liberty Road following a report regarding shots. According to Sheriff’s Office, this was a double pane window and the outer pane had a circular hole in it. No fragments or objects were found in the window or below the window on the ground. Further interviews revealed there was shooting going on the day of the call, but the broken window was found the day before, with no shooting that day. Unknown if it was a ricochet, or debris from heavy truck traffic going to the Liberty Rock Pit.

3:20 p.m. – Deputy was contacted by a juvenile who wanted to see his patrol vehicle, 600 block of Holley Road.

3:50 p.m. – Cody Milligan, 26, of Sweet Home, was arrested for two warrants following a traffic stop, Hwy. 20/Weatherly Lane. Also cited for driving while suspended. Report taken.

4:08 p.m. – Austin Ryan Richards, 30, was arrested on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrants for third-degree theft and failure to appear on original charges of second- and third-degree theft, Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

4:11 p.m. – Cody Isaiah Milligan, 26, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply on an original charge of harassment, Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

5:16 p.m. – Deputy contacted couple camped illegally on BLM land near milepost 21.5 on Quartzville Road. They were sent to a proper campsite.

10:28 p.m. – Tina Marie Gibbs, 41, was cited for driving with a suspended license and driving uninsured, Juniper St./12th Ave.

11:58 p.m. – Justin Lee Matteson, 44, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of criminal driving, Sutherlin Police Department.
