Sons arrested in alleged mistreatment of mother

Two Lebanon men were arrested Tuesday, April 13, for alleged mistreatment of their elderly mother.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Steven Middleton, 66, and Timothy Middleton, 62, after the Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from a medical clinic about an elderly female patient who had missed an appointment, Sgt. Brandon Fountain said.
“Deputies went to check on her and discovered that her sons had prevented her from going to the appointment,” he said.
The alleged victim is Barbara Middleton, their 88-year-old mother,

who resides in the 31800 block Stoltz Hill Road. Her sons lived at the same address, according to Sheriff’s reports.
Both were arrested for first-degree criminal mistreatment, reckless endangering and fourth-degree assault, and Timothy Middleton was also charged with resisting arrest. Both were transported to Linn County Jail.

March 10

11:47 a.m. – Vehicle crash in 38500 block of Mt. Hope Drive. Jesse Lowe, 45, of Lebanon, was transported by Life Flight to the hospital after his vehicle left the road and crashed through some fences. Cause of crash unknown.

2:14 p.m. – Thomas Edward Clow, 56, was cited for Lincoln County warrants for failures to appear and harassment.
7:05 p.m. – Report taken for theft of cell phone, Weldwood. Loss valued at $1,000.

10:05 a.m. – Report taken for theft of tools from vehicle, Gilbert St. Loss valued at $200.
12:48 p.m. – Report taken for theft of two jackets from a store, Santiam Hwy.
1:35 p.m. – Jose Espinoza, 20, of Lebanon, arrested on Albany Municipal Court cite-and-release warrant for driving while suspended, after traffic stop in 000 block East Oak Street. Report taken.
2:51 p.m. – Reiley Adams, 20, of Lebanon, cited for driving while suspended and driving uninsured. Also arrested on Albany Municipal Court cite-and-release warrant for contempt of court. 34200 block Highway 34.
4:30 p.m. – Resident reported a neighbor drives his ATV at high speed on the walking path, Jadon Dr.
5:16 p.m. – Report taken for theft of firearm cartridge and fuel cards from vehicles, Ash St.
8:53 p.m. – Jerald Chasteen was cited for a Linn County warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of possession of methamphetamine.

2:33 a.m. – Deputy contacted occupant of vehicle at Waterloo Park, 31200 block 1st Street. Park was closed and occupant was educated about trespassing.
5:32 a.m. – Kaden Moresco, 21, of Corvallis, cited for speeding, 52/25, 400 block West Airport Road.
12:50 p.m. – Todd Clark, of Sweet Home, arrested on outstanding warrant after deputy responded to 9-1-1 hangup call. 500 block Crowfoot Road.
6:32 p.m. – Report taken for theft of laptop and jewelry from locked bedroom, 11th St.
7:18 p.m. – Jason Scott Sylvester, 45, of Lebanon, arrested on multiple warrants. 2000 block Pleasant Valley Road, Sweet Home.
8:18 p.m. – Isaac House was cited for a Lebanon warrant for minor in possession of alcohol.
March 14
1:36 a.m. – Sean Cassidy, 49, of Lebanon, arrested for outstanding warrant. Lodged at Linn County Jail. 32200 block Hardman Road. Report taken.
12:22 p.m. – Joshua Welch, 32, of Lebanon, arrested on four outstanding warrants. 31200 block 1st St., Waterloo.

8:21 p.m. – Report taken for motor vehicle crash, 5th St. Driver cited for failure to perform duties of a driver, driving while suspended, reckless driving, and driving uninsured.

8:39 a.m. – Johnny Gordon Budd, 51, was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device, 5th St.
9:13 a.m. – Allia Angelene Knight was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device, 5th St.
9:13 a.m. – Vehicle stolen from Corvallis recovered in 38300 block Harrington Drive.
9:19 a.m. – Caller reported hang glider in a tree. According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 32000 block of Denny School Road and discovered a hang glider about 50 feet up in a tree. Deputies were able to track down the operator, Peter Owens, who told them he’d crashed on March 4 after the glider failed to turn. The operator pulled his parachute and landed in the tree. He broke some bones in his fall, according to a Sheriff’s report, but was “otherwise OK.”

10:18 a.m. – Sandie Christine Best, 40, was cited for failure to use a seatbelt, 5th St.
12:06 p.m. – Caller received an email from what appeared to be a known company. Caller was told to buy Google gift cards and provide the numbers to the sender. Caller scammed for $400. Investigation continuing. 38600 block Palmyre Drive.
1:46 p.m. – Shirley Robinson, 67, of Lebanon, cited for speeding, 98/55. 34600 block Swank Drive/Goltra Road.
2:58 p.m. – Steven Lynn Howard, 59, was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device, 2nd St.
3:25 p.m. – Sandra Lee Lindsay, 80, was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device, 2nd St.
3:47 p.m. – Justin Ray Copeland, 37, was cited for distracted driving with a cell phone, 2nd St.

3:55 p.m. – Caller was locked behind gate after driving up logging road from upper McDowell Creek Park. Told deputies he drove up the road to take photos of the falls. While he was there, the gate was closed and he was locked in. He was warned for going past the “No Public Access” sign. 43100 block McDowell Creek Drive.

11:37 a.m. – Amanda Jo Genz, 34, was cited for operating a motor vehicle while using a mobile communication device, 2nd St.

2:26 p.m. – Hamilton was cited for an Albany warrant for theft, and trespassed from Carl’s Jr.
3:08 p.m. – Zachery Allen Boatwright, 30, was cited for failure to use a seatbelt, Russell Dr.
3:25 p.m. – Juvenile female fell asleep. Parents could not find her. She was located in residence. No crime. 30300 block Butte Creek Road.
3:31 p.m. – Edwardo L. Ribas, 61, was cited for driving while suspended, and for an Albany warrant for contempt.
March 17
8:24 a.m. – Caller reported theft from vehicle, 900 block East Isabella Street. Estimated value of loss approximately $420. Investigation continuing. Report taken.
9:06 a.m. – Cindy Wells, 65, of Sodaville, cited for failing to obey a traffic control device, Middle Ridge/Sodaville Cutoff drives.
9:59 a.m. – Report taken for theft of catalytic converter from bus.
4:10 p.m. – Report taken for trespass, 8th St. A drunk male entered someone’s house and “messed around” with the washing machine. Caller did not know the man and tried to get him to leave, but he refused until she shoved him out the door.
5:13 p.m. – Justin Wade Vandehei, 45, was taken into custody and charged with driving while under the influence and driving while suspended, Airport Road.
9:04 p.m. – Caller reported criminal mischief – broken window in 300 block of 13th Street.

3:25 a.m. – Brennen Scott, 27, of Sweet Home and Nick Hunter, 38, of Lebanon, arrested on multiple warrants during traffic stop. Scott also cited for multiple traffic violations. 38200 block Maple Street/Westview Drive.
6:31 p.m. – Report taken for ID theft and computer card. Debit card was used to purchase gas and items from Walmart. Loss valued at $626.

5:09 a.m. – Three boys stole a tailgate from their best friend’s pickup as a prank, River Road.
8:49 a.m. – Deputies took report of hit and run in 30300 block Townsend Road. Driver caused approximately $450 in damage to two fences. Investigation ongoing. Report taken.

10:26 a.m. – Don Coulter, 31, of Lebanon, cited for driving while suspended, driving uninsured, warned for expired vehicle registration, 000 block East Airport Road.
10:27 a.m. – Caller reported the menu for the smoothie bar was lit on fire, Main St. Information documented.
11:20 a.m. – Deputy investigated theft of SD card from trail cam. 39400 block Klum Street.
11:41 a.m. – An RV trailer was reported stolen, Cleveland St.
3:21 p.m. – Randy Leroy Hobbs II, 42, was cited for criminal mischief for breaking a car window with a BB gun.
4:49 p.m. – Deputies responded to report of telephonic harassment between family members. All members were warned to stop calling each other or they could be subject to telephonic harassment charges. No crimes as of yet. 37200 block Meredith Drive.

11:40 p.m. – Brenda Gray, 50, of Scio, cited for driving while suspended, driving uninsured, 34100 block Brewster Road.

10:20 a.m. – Caller reported theft of a tire from a dump trailer, Kees St. Information documented.
12:39 a.m. – Codi Kingery, 28, of Lebanon, cited for driving uninsured, 38300 block Golden Valley Drive.
1:58 p.m. – Caller reported his building was spray painted with graffiti, Airport Road. Information documented.

3:47 p.m. – Doctor’s office contacted Linn County Sheriff’s Office with concerns about 77-year-old female about whom they expressed concerns that she might have had a stroke or was intoxicated, based on phone call with her. Deputy checked on woman, saw signs of stroke. Lebanon Fire District medics transported her to hospital. 35500 block Truelove Drive.

11:50 a.m. – Caller reported theft of a flatbed trailer one year ago. Information documented.
1:01 p.m. – Non-injury crash reported in 35200 block Spicer Drive/Red Bridge Road. Car went into gravel shoulder and got stuck in ditch. Owner called tow company, drove away without issues.
1:57 p.m. – Three juveniles referred to Linn Benton Juvenile Department for second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal trespass after allegedly breaking a car window on a neighbor’s property, 39600 block Lacomb Drive. Names unavailable. Report taken.

8:51 p.m. – Jerald Lynn Chasteen, 40, of Lebanon, arrested on outstanding Lebanon Municipal Court warrant. Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to 31200 block 1st Street after a caller reported hearing a male in a nearby public park screaming about demons needing to leave. Report taken.
March 26
5:19 a.m. – Single-vehicle crash reported in 36800 block Spicer Drive, just west of Highway 20. Injured person transported by private vehicle to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital. Report taken.
10:44 a.m. – Deputies responded to report of parking complaint in connection with an estate sale in 900 block West Airport Road. Vehicle back-up was creating hazard for drivers in the area. Issue resolved.
11:23 a.m. – Deputies responded to single-vehicle crash in 31100 block Berlin Road. Single occupant in 2013 Kia Rio, William Teeple, 55 of Sweet Home, did not suffer injuries, according to Sheriff’s log, which reported that he drifted off the road while looking at wildlife, striking a utility pole and a fence. No impairment, no crimes.
4:42 p.m. – Caller reported juveniles operating off-road motorcycles on road in 32400 block Hidden Valley Road. Requested traffic enforcement.
8:27 p.m. – Timothy Cowan, 55, of Lebanon, arrested for DUII and reckless driving after he backed his vehicle into a ditch in 000 block Sodaville Road while trying to turn around, according to Sheriff’s report. Deputies administered field sobriety tests that indicated Cowan was under the influence. He was taken to Linn County Jail, where a breath test indicated he had a blood alcohol content of .22%, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Cited and released for DUII, reckless driving and violation of open container laws. Report taken.

11:42 a.m. – Deputies assisted Lebanon PD with a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was chased out of Lebanon by the person it was stolen from, but the caller was unable to keep up with the vehicle and deputies were unable to locate it.

6:41 p.m. – Morgan Marie Lumpkin and Wesley House were charged for disorderly conduct for sexual intercourse in the park, Park St. Lumpkin was cited for criminal trespassing, interfering with a police officer, resisting arrest, and escape III. House was cited for criminal trespass, interfering with a police officer, and resisting arrest.
9:06 p.m. – Non-injury single-vehicle crash reported in 36300 block Rock Hill Drive, near Butte Creek Road. Nobody was with the vehicle, a silver 2003 Ford Taurus, when deputies arrived. Evidence indicated it had drifted off the road and into the ditch, striking a tree. Investigation continued. Report taken.

8:32 a.m. – Deputies responded to 9-1-1 hangup in 34800 block of Bond Road. It turned out the owner’s 9-month-old son was playing with her phone and accidentally made the call. No further action.
8:45 a.m. – Caller reported car window damage from a BB gun, Rose St.
10:12 a.m. – Caller reported Daniel Nofziger was running into the roadway chasing cars, and was nearly hit by a truck trailer, Milton St.
10:31 a.m. – Shawn Patrick Cruise, 40, was cited for driving while suspended, Park St.
10:45 a.m. – Caller reported a male was urinating outside the bathroom doors at Ralston Park.
11:49 a.m. – Caller reported a possibly intoxicated male tripped and fell in the road, waving a large knife, Oak St.
1:14 p.m. – Shaylynne Marie Watkins, 27, was cited for driving while suspended and failure to carry proof of insurance, Oak Terrace.
1:38 p.m. – Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 800 block of Hillview Drive. They located the described individual, who told them she was lost. They provided her with a courtesy ride.

3:18 p.m. – Report taken for criminal mischief, Main St. The keyhole to a deadbolt was removed by an unknown subject. Loss valued at $40. Caller also reported a dumpster near his home was set on fire the previous night.
4:33 p.m. – Caller complained that neighbors are driving too fast and are going to hurt themselves and others, 41500 block Sylvester Drive. Deputies to provide extra patrol.

2:24 p.m. – Jensyghne Gray, 42, of Lebanon, arrested for domestic harassment, reckless driving, reckless endangering and driving while suspended, after getting into a fight with her spouse. According to Sheriff’s log, Gray drove an ATV into the side of their truck, which was parked on the side of the road, then returned and continued the argument. 33600 block Mt. Pleasant Road. 5:44 p.m. – Caller reported a vehicle ran up onto a sidewalk and the driver was slumped over the steering wheel. Erik Anthony Delay, 32, was taken into custody for driving under the influence of an intoxicant, 5th St.

7:37 a.m. – Report taken for criminal mischief, 5th St. A tree was cut down in the high school parking lot near the stadium. Damage valued at $500.

She veered her 2010 Ford Focus into the ditch to avoid a head-on collision. Wilson was transported to hospital. Report taken.

12:06 p.m. – Caller reported finding fanny pack containing a “heroin-type kit” in 29600 block of Santiam Terrace Road. Caller has long driveway and found the fanny pack in barn. No ID. Report taken for trespass.
12:15 a.m. – Wright was cited for Lebanon warrants for parole violation and failure to appear, and a Linn County warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of possession of methamphetamine.
8:30 a.m. – Caller reported he loaned his tools to Cameron Allen, a former coworker, and was helping to fix his car. He was given a frappuccino and soon believed it had been spiked with methamphetamine. Allen’s wife and son joked they spiked it with a “half gram.” Caller left, and returned later to find the family was missing, along with his tools and wallet.

11:29 a.m. – Caller reported his car windows were broken with a brick taken from a planter box at the American Legion, Sherman St. Caller believes his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend are involved. Loss valued at $510. Information documented.
11:35 a.m. – Nicholas Duncan, 42, of Lebanon, cited for speeding, 69/55, driving while suspended and driving without insurance. 32500 block Berlin Road.
12:23 p.m. – Daniel Raymond Nofziger, 38, was cited for criminal mischief for removing a speed sign, and was trespassed from Appletree. He was also cited for an Albany warrant for theft II, and Linn County warrants for failures to appear on original charges of possession of methamphetamine, criminal mischief, offensive littering, reckless burning, interfering with a firefighter, and disorderly conduct.
4:22 p.m. – Deputy spoke with both the father and son. Son attempted to deny the incident. Father stated his son will no longer be allowed to ride the the go cart. 7:09 a.m. – Joseph Lee Shores, 49, was cited for driving while suspended, and for a Lebanon warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of theft II, a Sweet Home warrant for trespassing, and Linn County warrants for failures to appear on original charges of unlawful possession of methamphetamine and driving while suspended.
7:58 a.m. – Caller reported someone is syphoning gas from a red car, Cascade Dr. Officer found three fuel cans next to the vehicle that has been parked there for several days.

11:15 a.m. – Ashley Ann Burnside, 34, was cited for driving while suspended and driving uninsured, Santiam Hwy.
11:58 a.m. – Report taken for theft of tools, barbecue, and cargo trailer with three quads inside, Weirich Dr. Loss valued over $19,000.
12:51 p.m. – Caller reported theft of catalytic converter some time in the past month, Main St.
12:58 p.m. – Lisa Marie Falk, 49, was cited for driving without a valid operator’s license, 7th St.
1:27 p.m. – Caller reported log truck was clipped by another vehicle, which did not stop, at intersection of Santiam Terrace Road and Highway 20.
1:44 p.m. – Waugh was cited for driving while suspended, driving uninsured, and for a Lebanon warrant for failure to appear on an original criminal citation.
4:27 p.m. – Caller reported fraud after buying a Firestick from Amazon. A fake representative of Firestick asked for bank information in order to set up the Firestick. Loss valued at $1,000.
6:10 p.m. – Deputy responded to report of single-vehicle rollover crash in 39000 block Mt. Hope Drive. Vehicle was totaled, but ooccupants, whose names were not listed in Sheriff’s log, were not injured. According to log, “inexperience appeared to be a factor in the crash, as the operator was still being taught how to drive by her passenger, who was her father.” Operator exited corner and felt tires contact gravel shoulder, which caused her to over-correct and roll the vehicle. 11:49 a.m. – Jordan Lloyd Casterline, 24, was cited for an Oregon Parole Board warrant for parole violation and Linn County warrants for failures to appear on original charges of possession of methamphetamine, careless driving, failure to perform duties, assault IV, and felon in possession of a restricted weapon.
1:09 p.m. – Report taken for criminal mischief. Caller reported a male broke a flag pole and tore the flag down, Main St. The subject admitted to the crime because “a voice” challenged him to do it.
2:24 a.m. – Vincent Lee Holt Jr., 50, of Lebanon, arrested on several warrants from Lebanon, Sweet Home, Albany and Philomath. Sheriff’s deputies responded to 30200 block of Horseshoe Loop, to a report of trespassing and a physical altercation. According to the Sheriff’s log, they found Holt “heavily intoxicated.” He was arrested and issued criminal citations in lieu of custody for the warrants and was cited for second-degree criminal trespass. He was escorted back to the location where he was staying.
3:10 p.m. – Caller reported theft of adult tricycle with basket, 7th St.
3:26 p.m. – Caller reported grafitti at the park, and said juveniles were urinating through her fence and throwing trash into her yard, Harrison St.
5:37 a.m. – Steven Noble, 51, of Lebanon, cited for speeding, 78/55, 30600 block Sand Ridge Road/Hill Drive.
6:41 p.m. – Caller reported that she found her cat with injuries that required it to be euthanized, 41700 Clark Smith Drive. Investigation under way. Report taken.

12:49 p.m. – Caller reported fraud. He applied for a job online. The employer sent him a $4,180 check and instructed him to send gift cards. Loss valued at $3,500.
3:34 p.m. – Jacob Lynn Goodwin, was cited for driving uninsured and without a valid operator’s license, Main St.
8:25 p.m. – James William Holt, 67, was taken into custody following a call about his car crashing into a parked vehicle, Vine St.
11:03 p.m. – Caller reported a person threatened to hold people hostage and blow up the doctor’s office if his doctor didn’t refill his prescription, Main St.
