Susan Edens
June 6, 1950 – November 5th, 2024
Susan Edens, 74, of Brownsville passed away on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024 in her home. Susan was born on June 6, 1950, to Floyd and Janet Edens. Susan was a nearly 20 year resident of Brownsville and former resident of Cascadia, where she raised her two children Floyd and Melody Neuschwander.
Susan was born in Bishop, California, and was raised in Minot, ND, moving to California in 1964 after her father passed away. She eventually moved to Cascadia, where she would stay until 2003. In the 1980’s she was a reporter for the Linn County correspondent for the Statesman Journal newspaper and worked as a reporter for The New Era Newspaper. She was a teacher at Linn Benton Community College to assist students with disabilities. In addition, Susan volunteered at the Sharing Hands thrift store in Brownsville, for many years. Susan was most recently a member of Brownsville Assembly of God Church.
Susan was an avid reader, Scrabble player, story teller, and poet who loved words and art in a myriad of formats. Though not a lover of cats, two adopted her, DC and OC, both of whom will miss her.
Susan is survived by her sisters Mary Alley of Peoria, AZ and Judy Schoeny of Vancouver, WA, children Floyd Neuschwander of Cascadia, and Melody Neuschwander of Albany, and grandchildren Madelyn Neuschwander of Kodiak, AK and Sicily Neuschwander of Seattle, WA.
She is preceded by her brother Johnny Edens, mother Janet Edens, father Floyd Edens and stepson Steven Neuschwander Jr.
