Sweet Home Community Foundation Announces 2024 Community Grant Recipients

The Sweet Home Community Foundation (SHCF) annually awards community grants to local projects and organizations that provide lasting improvements to our community. This year’s SHCF community grants of up to $10,000 each were funded through the SHCF Endowment, the Tim and Jo Ann McQueary – Leave a Local Legacy Endowment, the Safeway Foundation and the City of Sweet Home.

Grants were awarded in the following categories: Children and Families, Education, Livability, and Arts & Culture. Grant recipients for 2024 are as follows:

◆ The Sweet Home Parks and Tree Committee will receive $10,000 for repairs and restoration of the historic Weddle Bridge.

◆ The Boys & Girls Club will receive $10,000 to purchase and install two gymnasium scoreboards for use during youth competitions.

◆ The Arts and Culture Committee will receive $5,000 to commission a new mural and kick off their downtown project.

◆ The Family Tree Relief Nursery will receive $5,000 to initiate and enhance their Childhood Development and Support programs in Sweet Home.

◆ Also receiving funding: The Friends of the Library – neighborhood Little Library Program, the Kids Food Pak Program, the Sweet Home Meals on Wheels Program and the Sweet Home Pregnancy Care Center – Baby Safety Program.

Any individual, family or estate can establish a named endowment under the SHCF’s tax deductible, “Leave a Local Legacy” program. These endowments can be established over a period of time, and they allow the donor to direct future financial support to local programs and projects. This program assures that a family or loved one will be permanently remembered by the community. Those wishing more information about SHCF or about establishing an endowment can visit the SHCF website at giveshcf.org or call 541-730-3670.
