April 17

4:53 a.m. – Andrew Joseph Osinga, 22, was cited for failure to carry proof of insurance, Main St./46th Ave.

5:09 a.m. – Serenity Nichole Tsosie, 25, was cited for failure to carry proof of insurance, 1000 block of Main St.

10:40 a.m. – Sheriff’s Office conducted a welfare check on children in the 38500 block of Hwy. 228 due to lack of school attendance. The children appeared to be healthy, fed and have returned to school. No crimes.

11:55 a.m. – Deputy sat at the Cascadia Park entrance while a tree was being cut, as some area residents had expressed concerns about its removal, 47800 block of Cascadia Drive. All was quiet.

1:29 p.m. – Caller reported concerns about a homeless camp that had moved in next to property in the 1400 block of Clark Mill Road. The property is vacant and neighbors have agreed to keep an eye on it. Caller asked for extra patrols and will be boarding up property access.

1:56 p.m. – Caller reported a stolen bike, 920 block of Long St. Report taken for second-degree theft. Approximate loss of value: $200.

5:29 p.m. – Caller reports tools taken from a vehicle, 1530 block of Tamarack St. Report taken for unauthorized entry into motor vehicle and first-degree theft.

6:30 p.m. – Caller reported being scammed, 42000 block of North River Drive. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the caller received a text message from someone claiming to be from the Amazon Fraud Department. Scammers told the caller that money was owed on a bill, requiring the downloading of a phone app to allow remote access. The scammers were then able to access the caller’s bank apps for account information, then had the caller visit the Sweet Home Safeway to purchase two gift cards for $500 each. Scammers had the caller send pictures of the cards, which they immediately used to transfer money to a different account. Report taken.

April 18

4:24 a.m. – April Grace Gerhold, 32, was arrested on a Hillsboro Police Department warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of second-degree criminal mischief, Hillsboro Police Department.

4:38 a.m. – David Lloyd Norman, 63, was cited and released on a Lane County Circuit Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of failing to appear on an original charge, Wiley Creek Park.

1:47 p.m. – Caller reported a resident reactivating water service, 1100 block of 2nd Ave. Loss of value: $220.

April 19

1:28 a.m. – Caller reported a trespassed male outside of an RV, 400 block of Maple St. Report taken for second-degree criminal trespass.

1:36 a.m. – Caller reported a suspicious-appearing vehicle parked next to another vehicle, 1500 block of Tamarack St. Report taken for attempted theft and second-degree criminal trespass.

3:40 a.m. – Linn County Sheriff’s Office requested an officer for an RV fire, 160 block of 10th Ave. Report taken for first-degree arson.

7:54 a.m. – Caller reported vehicle blocking driveway in the 43200 block of North River Drive. Emergency services were unable to access property if needed. Deputy tagged the vehicle as abandoned and left a message for its registered owner.

10:57 a.m. – Burglary reported in the 50500 block of Hwy. 20, Cascadia. According to the Sheriff’s Office, a caller reported that a trailer and shed were entered around the middle of February. The trailer is parked approximately a quarter-mile to the south of the caller’s residence, in a forested area of their property. Tent poles, a table, tarps, sleeping bags, blankets and other miscellaneous items were stolen from the trailer. Total value: $400. Investigation ongoing. Report taken.

2:29 p.m. – Caller reported a female juvenile at school attempting to pay other male juveniles to beat up her daughter, Sweet Home High School, 1641 Long St. Investigation continuing.

3:40 p.m. – Heather Linn Thompson, 43, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on original charges of second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree disorderly conduct and second-degree criminal trespass, Linn County Courthouse.

8:16 p.m. – Caller reported a UPS truck striking a homeowner’s dog and not stopping, 28300 block of Jones Drive. Deputy put the homeowner in touch with a local shipping hub manager.

9:43 p.m. – Katherine Marie Berghoffer, 42, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of third-degree theft, Albany Police Department.

April 20

4:56 a.m. – Caller reported a vehicle-break in and the theft of two firearms, 1200 block of 38th Ave. Report taken for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and first-degree theft X2. Loss of value: $700.

10:43 a.m. – Caller reported a male attempting to steal items from Safeway and threatening to blow up the store, 1540 Main St. Jason Michael Comer, 45, was arrested. Charges were not listed.

11:06 a.m. – Nicholas Nelson, 44, of Sweet Home, was cited for operating a vehicle while using a mobile device and driving with no operator`s license, 28700 block of Santiam Terrace Road.

11:37 a.m. – Chelsea DeVault, 60, of Sweet Home, was cited for dog as public nuisance, 43100 block North River Dr. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the animal was reported running loose multiple times. This particular time it was on video chasing a neighbor’s goose.

11:52 a.m. – Caller reported a male breaking into and taking items from her home, 1800 block of Tamarack St. Joe Allen Wayne Wood, 33, was cited on an Albany Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply on an original charge. He was arrested on a Lebanon Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of having no liability insurance, on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant failure to comply on an original charge of harassment, and on an Oregon State Parole Board warrant for parole violation.

4:43 p.m. – Caller reported a vehicle break-in that had occurred the previous evening, 1200 block of 38th Ave. Report taken for unauthorized entry into motor vehicle X2 and second-degree theft. Value: $300.

10:58 p.m. – Jamie Daniel Carpenter, 46, was cited and released on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply on an original charge of criminal driving, 900 block of Mountain View Road.

11:19 p.m. – Caller reported a dumpster-rummaging male with possible connections to recent unauthorized motor-vehicle entries, 1200 block of 38th Ave. Timothy Loren Ames Jr., 33, was cited and released on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrants for failure to comply on an original charge of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and failure to appear on original charges of third-degree theft, reckless burning, unauthorized entry into motor vehicle X2, first-degree criminal trespass X2 and second-degree disorderly conduct.

April 21

9:08 a.m. – Anthony Ensley, 40, of Sweet Home, was arrested on three warrants and transported to Linn County Jail. 26700 block of Rowell Hill Road. Report taken.

12:32 p.m. – David Reeder, 63, was cited and released on Corvallis Municipal Court warrants for failure to appear on original charges of second-degree trespass and failure to appear on an original charge, 2000 block of Main St.

3:05 p.m. – Caller reported a stolen backpack, 2200 block of Main St. Report taken for second-degree theft.

April 22

7:29 a.m. – Caden Waskom, 22, was cited for driving with a suspended license, 1900 block of Main St.

3:36 p.m. – Caller reported that her husband went missing and left her in a grocery store an hour earlier. Another caller reported that he went home to retrieve her purse, 2200 block of Larch St., and then discovered she was missing from the store. Officer responded. Both callers were advised of the misunderstanding.

3:51 p.m. – Deputy reported Foster Lake “buzzing with guests at every turn-out around the lake.”

April 23

9:16 a.m. – Dustin Andrew Clarneau, 48, was cited and released on a Linn County Justice Court warrant for failure to appear on an original second-degree charge, Shear Country, 2312 Main St.

10:00 a.m. – Deputy on patrol reported roads impassable past milepost 29 on Quartzville Road and 4.5 on Trout Creek due to snow.

10:15 a.m. – Jessaka Shoy, 41, was cited for contempt of court in a 2016 case after she was found in an illegal camp, 45100 block of Quartzville Road. Report taken.

12:34 p.m. – Caller into the police department reported a theft in the 330 block of W. Holley Road. Approximate loss of value: $500.
