A 17-year-old boy was arrested Monday, Feb. 10, after he allegedly emailed bomb threats to an Albany school, Albany police reported.
On Jan. 29, Albany Police Department responded to Albany Options School after receiving emailed bomb threats from an unknown suspect. Officers searched the school, including utilizing an Oregon State Police explosive detection K-9, and determined the school was safe. School was not canceled or delayed, but officers were present as kids arrived at school as a precautionary measure.
Originally, the email appeared to originate from out of the country, police said. Upon further investigation, however, Albany officers developed a lead and a suspect was identified.
On Feb. 10 officers and detectives conducted a search warrant and arrested a 17 year-old juvenile male at his residence in Corvallis. Multiple electronic devices were seized as evidence and no explosive materials were located. The juvenile was transported to Linn-Benton Juvenile Detention Center where he is currently being held on two counts of first-degree disorderly conduct.
