Turkeys flock downtown

Fashionable and outrageous decorated turkeys run the downtown corridor, inviting visitors to smile and shop local businesses.

Lebanon Downtown Association members Shannon Miller and Shellie Jackola brought back the annual art project known as the Quirky Turkey Pageant after it lost flight during COVID.

The art project originated back in 2018 from the newly-formed Lebanon Arts Commission, but it only lasted two years. The Linn County Arts Guild then put on its own turkey project in 2020 by utilizing a much more affordable laser cut version of the birds.

Businesses and art lovers sponsor the turkey forms and decorate them according to their wild imaginations. The LDA sets them along Main Street from Monday through Friday; they will be on display through the end of August.
