Two people were arrested by Lebanon police Thursday morning, April 28, after a pursuit that started with a tip that a man wanted on a felony warrant was in town.
According to a Lebanon Police statement, the department received information that a male subject with an outstanding felony warrant out of the United States Marshal’s Office was driving a 1999 GMC Surburban and was within the city of Lebanon.
At approximately 8:19 a.m., Lebanon Police officers located the vehicle and attempted to stop the suspect, who, police said, was the driver of the Suburban, for a traffic violation near Park Street and East Shennan Street, when the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed.
According to police, the vehicle fled south through Lebanon and drove out of the city limits of Lebanon on South Main Road, where it left the roadway and drove through several driveways and yards. The vehicle continued driving east through a field and onto Baker Street. The vehicle then traveled east and came to a stop at a dead-end driveway.
The male driver, Derek Bellamy, 34, and a female passenger, Shaylee BrogdenSherer, 29, both fled the vehicle on foot. Bellamy was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. BrogdenSherer fled east on foot and forced entry into two separate residences on Hillview Drive, police said. She was located hiding in a bedroom of one of the residences, and was taken into custody after fighting with officers, police said.
Bellamy was charged with felony attempt to elude police officer, reckless driving, two counts of reckless endangering, two counts of second-degree criminal mischief, and a U.S. Marshal’s warrant for escape. He was transported and lodged at the Linn County Jail.
Brogden-Sherer was charged with misdemeanor attempt to elude police officer, two counts of first-degree burglary, resisting arrest, and warrants from Lebanon Municipal Court, Linn County Sheriff’s Office, and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. She was also lodged at the Lebanon Municipal Jail.
The Lebanon Police Department was assisted by the Linn Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team, Linn County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oregon State Police.
This is still an active investigation. Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact Lebanon Police Sgt. Chad Christenson at (541) 258-4324.
