Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 24, Vaughan Lane will be closed to through traffic from Stoltz Hill Road to the east side of Fifth Street for the next phase of construction.
The closure is due to construction of a new sanitary sewer, which began south of Airport Road in late September 2021. The first phase of the project, which was to install new sewer pipe along Airway Road, Stoltz Hill Road and Vaughan Lane from Oak Creek to Seventh Place has been completed.
The accompanying map identifies the new closure area. Motorists who would normally use Vaughan Lane to access South Fifth Street are advised to use the detour as indicated with the attached map. It is anticipated that this closure will last until mid-October 2022.
Residents along South Fifth Street should also be aware that as the project continues South Fifth will eventually be closed to through traffic from Vaughan Lane to south of Jadon Drive. This closure is not expected to take place until early/mid 2023. The city will issue a notice to the public when that occurs.
