Waterloo Council Discusses Permits, Community Picnic

After the July meeting of the Waterloo City Council was skipped due to vacations, the August 13 meeting was quiet, with only a few updates and no community members attending.

The council is looking into enforcement and renewal of chicken permits as someone recently called in to ask about them and all prior permits have expired.

There is a semi-tractor trailer impeding traffic on Fourth Street, which the council discussed dealing with, but ultimately ended up settling on calling the sheriff to stop in.

The ongoing driveway fee issue is still pending a review from a lawyer so no loopholes are left open to exploitation; there are several residents actively seeking driveways. The council is still awaiting a neighboring property owner’s written approval for a variance on setbacks for a garage. The archaeological survey project is almost ready to take bids.

The community picnic was rescheduled for Sunday the 18th and a budget of $500 was approved for supplies–mainly food and drinks. Some reimbursements were discusses as well due to the city card switching from Visa to MasterCard.

The council decided to replace the lights in City Hall, including the fixtures, so they will be more energy efficient.
