With one Test N’ Tune completed and one rained out, Willamette Speedway will begin racing action on Saturday, April 14, to properly commence the 2018 season – weather permitting.

The Cabin Fever Season Opener will have five classes on the card that will be filling up the pit area.  Thw classes that will shred the clay include the Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman, and Street Stocks.

“This season there is so many great events throughout the year,” said Race Director Jeremy Means. “Hopefully, Mother Nature cooperates and we can get some racing in.”

One big change this season is that two-day racing dates will be going from Saturday-Sunday to Friday-Saturday.  Also Fast Fridays will be coming to Willamette for the first time and will have a special $5 General Admission price.

Based on what some defending champions have to say, it will interesting how things shake up as a few titles will be vacated.

“I recently moved to Montana, but I’m looking forward to racing at Willamette two or three times this year,” stated the two-time defending Hornet champ, Tracy Muse, “My son-in-law Devon (Traslavina) will be trying to take on my Willamette records this year.”

“We are looking forward to racing at Willamette again,” said defending IMCA Modified title holder John Campos. “This year we’re not running full time anywhere and not trying to race for any championships. We’re just going pick and choose the places to go to.”

Fans and race teams are encouraged to keep a close eye on Willamette’s  website or Facebook page for weather updates, which will post weather conditions and whether racing will be happening.

Pit gates open at 1 p.m., front gates 3:30, and racing starts at 6. Tickets are $14 for adults, $10 for juniors/military personnel/seniors, $5 for youths 6-12, and free for children 5 and under. A family pass (two adults and up to four youths) is $35. Season passes are also available.
